Surag is right.
Pogba is young, constantly improving and just flat out impressive.
Marchisio doesn't have it easy at all.

I agree. If Pogba performs well, do you honestly think Conte is just going to hand Marchisio his starting spot back? This is Conte. If I have learned anything under his management it's that he makes everyone fight for their starting spots and playing time. Marotta could go spend 30m on a striker today and Conte would still play the best performing player.S wrote:Uhm no..He has to fight for it when he returns..juventus101 wrote:Anyways, still think Marchisio has his starting spot held down tight

Yep, Conte is not swayed by names at all.
I feel so bad for Marchisio, and i'd hate to see him go. But if he fell to the bench i'd hate it even more.

It will be a crucial month for both Pogba and Marchisio to see how their seasons pan out.A youngster like Pogba can afford to be a rotation option at this point but not someone as established as Marchisio.Its all in Pogba's hands at the moment though.If he continues to perform then Marchisio is obviously going to have it hard in retaining his place unless there's a Pirlo or Vidal injury.
Having said that i really hope we dont have plans of selling Vidal next year or something seeing the competition in midfield already and considering Marchisio is a 'homeboy'.I mean to say we need to be more practical than sentimental.Juventus' interests come first.

I don't think Pogba would be very happy if he was playing well and he got benched... He still hasn't accepted the extension Juve have been pushing since February and there's a reason for that. Kid isn't stupid. He wants to stay; but not at the cost of not being a regular.

Nobody is denying that but Pogba has the potential to be better than him.Marchisio at this point is better and more established.I think thats a unanimous opinion over here.

You're sensationalizing a bit too much here..sportsczy wrote:I don't think Pogba would be very happy if he was playing well and he got benched... He'll get his extension shortly.

He'll surely extend his contract. Many users of Goal Legacy are suggesting a possibility of Pogba's departue from Juventus but I can't understand why. He just came to the club an year ago, he is a hot prospect, he is hungry of trophies, he is loved by the fans and everything's fine for him. The wage won't be a problem, I am sure Juve and Pogba will reach an agreement soon.S wrote:You're sensationalizing a bit too much here..sportsczy wrote:I don't think Pogba would be very happy if he was playing well and he got benched... Benched? Nope, he is too good at the moment to be benched. Probably Conte will use the principle of squad rotation but Pogba won't be ostracized.

Other than sentimental value, how can you say Marchisio has been better than Pogba in 2013? To me, it hasn't even been that close. Marchisio has been poor since the start of the year imo while Pogba has been dominant at times.

Actually, no. Marchisio is currently better than Pogba without question. Most of the hype surrounding Pogba is that he's playing so well at the age of 20, but when you disregard that, Marchisio is better.sportsczy wrote:Other than sentimental value, how can you say Marchisio has been better than Pogba in 2013? Can Pogba become better than Marchisio? Yes. Is he better at the moment? No, not by a long shot.

I guess sentimentality is hard to let go... no problem.
Marchisio was great the first half of last season and a ghost in the 2nd half... nowhere to be seen. I won't even mention NT.

Pogba was better in the 2nd half of last season than Marchisio but that isnt enough to say that he is better than a established Italian NT international.He still needs to get a proper full season under his belt with loads of playtime.

Re: - Il Principino | Claudio Marchisio #8
As I said before, Pogba is simply a much more flashy player than Marchisio. Marchisio is much smarter, possibly the smartest tactically player in our squad, so hes not as flashy and dangerously daring. Another reason tor Marchisio being quiet that people seen to ignore is that the way our system works is that only one of Vidal or Marchisio push up at a time otherwise they would leave big gaps at the back. Vidal has been pushing forward a lot more in the last season and a half, leaving Marchisio to be the destroyer. Its no conincidenfe that Marchisio is currently considered to be "quiet" and Vidal is scoring loads of goals, while in the first half of 2011/12 Vidal was "quiet" while Marchisio was comfortably our best offensives player and scoring loads of goals.
With that said, Marchisio is currently better than Pogba. Pogba has the potential to be better than Marchisio, as well as Vidal and Pirlo. But right now, Marchisio is without a doubt better.
And I didn't mean that as soon as he gets back hes gonna get his starting place back. I just meant that hes definitely going to get a chance, and in that time I believe he will show how he is definitely better than Pogba and win his place back. Pogba might hold on to it for a little while at most, but I don't think Marchisio has anything to worry about. That's what I meant.

Re: - Il Principino | Claudio Marchisio #8
It seems ridiculous to compare the two players. They are both very different in style. Personally, I think Pogba is very dangerous when he is on the pitch, especially in attack. I think our attack is much more potent when Pogba is playing. Marchisio does a lot of things well, especially on the defensive side that Pogba doesn't do. However, offensively and finishing in front of goal, I would give Pogba the edge. My problem with Marchisio in the last year is that he disappears in big games for both Juve and the Azzurri. Pogba is just such an exciting player that I want him on the pitch to see what he will do next.
It's hard to give one the edge over the other. However, if people really believe that Marchisio is better, it's not by much and it won't be long before Pogba surpasses Marchisio and everyone will want him on the pitch as much as possible.
I appreciate that Marchisio is a player that came up through our youth system and has strong ties and loyalty to the club, but I want the best 11 on the pitch and I think Pogba has that extra something that Marchisio just doesn't possess. We will need that extra something to win UCL.

I want to see one game with Marchisio-Pogba-Vidal and see how it works. Just curious.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The more I watch the more I see two completely different players. Marchisio is a #8, one of the best in the world at his position. Play him with Vidal and Pirlo and what a great midfield trio we have, the best in the world. Pogba on the other hand is a #10 if you really watch him closely. He loves to take charge, is flashy, and when he learns how to use his size and strength to his advantage, can become a world class trequartista, and a talent like we've never seen. His passing is getting better every time.
Ancelotti converted Pirlo from trequartista to regista and turned him into one of the greatest regista's in Italian history. Conte can do the same. He can turn Pogba from a #8 to a number #10 and make him one of the best in the world, if not the best.
Marchisio = Marco Tardelli 2.0
Pogba = Zinedine Zidane 2.0
Play them both together at the same time with Pirlo and Vidal and our midfield will be an unstoppable force in Serie A and the envy of Europe...

I hate to say this but I can never see Pogba as a #10, he could adapt to it but he will not be best as a trequartista,
he is more of the Yaya Toure mould, the complete midfielder mould but def a far cry from a perfect #10

No way Pogba is or ever will be a 10. He is Patrick Vieira with slightly better offensive skills and slightly worse defensive skills...
