Said it before, but Bernard would be a strange signing. It'd be a lot of money for a player who'd play a squad role at best during a World Cup year. Cazorla/Wilshere/Walcott would presumably be first choice and Podolski/Rosicky/Chamberlain would be the back-up trio. Bernard can cover all three roles but only way he gets in the squad is if there's an injury to one of the six or if we had to play Wilshere or Chamberlain in centre midfield.

No matter how you look at it, somebody will end up missing out. Only other way for everyone to get a fair crack at the whip is if we don't sign a striker and use Podolski as competition/rotation/back up for Giroud instead of as a left sided forward. That way Bernard would become direct backup/rotation for Cazorla.

But I don't think any of us would want that to happen.

Bernard is better than Cazorla+Mata+Silva+Oscar to the Gotze-th power. He will save us. He will either assist himself on all of the four dozen goals he will score each season, or he will assist the assist. He will play 27.8 key passes per game (on average). He will tame the wild beast that is Suarez. In the off-season, he reads bedtime stories to children in hospitals.

Tony Barrett of the times has also said we've bid £40,000,001 for Suarez. It's been rejected.

It seems to be that having made that bid, Liverpool must now inform Suarez that we're interested. It's then down to Suarez to say if he's interested in the move or not. The Guardian article suggests that Suarez can ask to open discussions with Arsene Wenger about the move. I'm not entirely sure on that, but regardless, Suarez must now be informed that we've made a bid.

From there, it remains complicated. Liverpool are adamant there's no release clause, but Suarez's agent seems to interpret the clause as allowing the player to leave if a bid of that amount is made and some sources are suggesting he may look for legal help on this issue. You'd imagine that the club would have the right of it here and if so, they'll remain free to determine their own asking price which is apparently £55mil.

So assuming things progress like that, we'll either have to pay up or hope that Suarez and his party push hard enough for the move to happen so Liverpool come down on their asking price. The worrying thing is that, according to David Orstien, Suarez isn't in any rush to do that because other parties are interested. If one of those happens to be Madrid, or even Chelsea, then Liverpool can easily ask for more. In that case, we'd be screwed.

I read today's arseblog and it makes sense to me. People should learn to agree to disagree. WHether we like the Suaraz bid or not, everyone should keep it civil.

For me A DM, CB and Cesc will be good window as well. But highly unlikely that Barca will sell Cesc. Bernard is surplus to requirement if we get a striker or Cesc.
