When people made those comments they weren't really thinking long term. It was as knee jerk as knee jerk gets. It's not like Ronaldo wasn't giving them ammo to use unfortunately.

However I'll maintain that the people that defended him at the time were actually being much more level headed about it.

no knee jerk. He'd been at Madrid for 2 1/2 year and had flopped every big game until then... every single one. Not just Barca either, where he was awful. His poorest performances at Man U were in big games too as Jibers often mentioned.

But kudos to him for turning it around.

And seriously lol at using Jibers as an authority. He's awesome and fun poster but an authority on the subject of showing up for big games he is not.

It wasn't one season... 2 1/2 years he'd screwed the pooch in every big game. He hadn't scored a single goal against Barca for 2 1/2 years. Not to mention he sucked in CL for us when it counted.

But again, he really turned it around. Now, he's your definition of a big game player.

And Jibers knows a lot more about Man U than you and i ever will...

The posts are there for you to read. Some people (like josh and yourself) gave their honest opinions but the majority bashed/knee jerked pretty hard.

Calling him an "arrogant prick" "selfish" etc. Totally unfair criticisms.

The criticism he got was well deserved but the stuff that was written there bar a few were very much knee jerked. Being patient seems to be a myth as a Real Madrid fan...

He is arrogant. That absolutely hasn't changed. He even said in an interview before this season that he views humility as a weakness lol.

He is also self-involved. That is not for debate either. It's either his way or he becomes "unhappy". Everything is catered to him at Madrid so far; so i don't see what he should be unhappy about... but that's been debated to death.

For these 2 reasons, he has no choice to play at a god-like level. People tend to have very little sympathy or patience for people who portray themselves like this.

Btw, he could be a great person in life. But this is his football personality and i'm judging his football personality only.

Maybe he's unhappy because he's averaged a goal a game since he came here four years ago and all he has to show for it is a league and cup. A lot of the other guys on this squad haven't been pulling enough of their weight (this includes Mourinho as a coach).

Whatever you, sam etc have all made it clear that you don't/won't like him regardless of what happens or what he does. It fluctuates between "tolerate" and "hate" for you guys when it comes to him.

I think to call him arrogant is too much, it's his ambision who makes him look arrogant. He would do everything to win a match.

I don't hate CR7. I don't fancy his public image or his pitch personality... everything is about me, me, me. Just not my thing in a footy player. I wish him extremely well while he's at Madrid. Couldn't care less when he's not here.

True arrogance to me is being annoying, telling other teammates "I'm the best, you suck, etc"

those kind of players piss me off. alot. and that is true arrogance to me.

Just a few days ago cr had the chance to score, but he unselfishly lays it off to karim, to help bring his confidence up.

Not one player of madrid has complained about CR saying stuff like this. Benz and khedira in particular are great friends with him

In fact, Cr just speaks his mind. i would bet 99% of most professionals would instinctively agree.

I like this, and it is very true. He has been playing his heart out, and with everything he did at Madrid so far he only has a La Liga title and a Copa title, which when you compare to his time at MU- a CL, a few PLs, Balon D'or, and so on. There are more expectations of him to win more things at Madrid. In reality, he is a much better player all around now, and is now a big game player too. And also, Mourinho pretty much took a seat back this season.

His problem is he motivates himself by his personal glory rather than putting the team first...of course for each their own methods but him not tracking back has already cost us alot of big games and it is because he doesnt care ''enough'' about the team.

Ibra is a poor role model in football.He doesnt care enough about the team which is evident by his Worst defensive contribution for any player i have ever seen.

Difference with Ibra though is that he is an incredible playmaker. If his team is strugglong in the midfield, he'll drop back and play the 10 without being told. It sucks the Cbs out and allows Lavezzi/Menez/Lucas/etc a ton of room to make runs and he'll hit them with the pass. His attacking style is all about the team.
