Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
Juventus will reportedly host a meeting with Real Madrid shortly to discuss a possible transfer deal for Gonzalo Higuain.
The Serie A champions have increasingly been linked with returning interest in the Argentine striker, who they were previously rumoured to be looking at last summer.
And Gazzetta dello Sport believe that representatives from the Bianconeri will meet with their counterparts from Los Blancos to discuss a possible move for the forward.
These preliminary negotiations for Higuain will reportedly see the clubs thrash out the differences between the Santiago Bernabeu side's’ €30m asking price and Juve’s €25m maximum offer.

If we get him, he had better improve his record in the CL.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
come on...25m is the price for last season...this year was poorer than last...15-20m max...he's unproven in Serie A which we all know might weight a big deal in his performance...
we don't even know if Llorente can do the job.
spend the 20m+melo/quags/matri/padoin/isla on Jovetic ffs.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
With Llorente coming, hes not really needed, but considering other big teams have crazy depth in strikers, we should too. I don't see Llorente and Higuian able to play together though. Dropping Vucinic would be a mistake because even with Higuian ans Llorente, Vucinic would still be the best with the ball at his feet and most creative. If we cant find a Pirlo replacement though, we could put Vucinic is a 10 role and he would add that creativity. Something like this?
--Buffon--
--Barzagli-- --Bonucci-- --Chiellini--
--Lichsteiner-- --Vidal-- --Marchisio-- --Asamoah--
--Vucinic--
--Llorente-- --Higuian--

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
Llorente and Higuain both are in-box players. You're wasting either if he's outside the area. I don't see how you guys plan on using them together. Neither is fast enough to be an effective wing player, although Higuain is a good crosser if he can get himself open.

That won't work, Devi. We're never going to bench both Pirlo and Pogba.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
Good luck with that. He was most effective at Madrid when he had room to make runs between defenders prior to receiving the ball. If you crowd the area with players (as with another CF), you're bringing defenders closer together. That didn't work well for Higuain... when CR7 started crashing his CF area he wasn't effective.
It was one of his big problems this year... CR7 was acting more and more as a second striker and taking his space. Benz has the same issue; but he's much better at making assists.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
I know that its unlikely, but I think it would work. You could also very easily rotate both Pogba and Pirlo into that lineup. Thing is, with Vucinic creating, instead of having to be the scorer, he would flourish, and with Llorente and Higuian up top it would drag defenders to them, open up more space for the wingbacks, and it would take the goalscoring burden off of Vidal and Marchisio. This would help a lot as then they could do a bit less running, more defensive work, and the two of them together, especially with Vucinic right in front of them, the passing game wouldn't really suffer. People don't seem to realize but Marchisio and Vidal are both excellent passers. They're not Pirlo obviously, but who is?
EDIT: For the record, I would rather stick with a 3-5-2 with Vucinic-Llorente/ Higuian up top. And if both come then that's great depth. I was just thinking of a 3-4-1-2 as an idea. Although, we cannot drop Vucinic for a Higuain-Llorente partnership. Vucinic is simply too creative and too good with the ball at his feet. Id rather the 3-4-1-2 than a 3-5-2 without Mirko. Or when we're desperately searching for a goal we can switch to that. But I lobe MVP and I would never want to change it. Problem is, we need to start either molding Pogba into Pirlos replacement or find someone who can take over. Hopefully we finish the Poli deal and he does well.

Than it seems like we'll use him as SS in 3-5-2

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
We need an ss to go with a CF.
Llorente and Higs is a waste together. Because buying Higgy means no other top striker.
If Higs does better than Llorente, fine. We've wasted our time on Llorente.
What if Llorente ends up being better than Higuain and taking his spot?
We're 20M down with nothing but more depth to show for it.

Higuain is much better than Llorente.... different league. If anything, it's shame for Llorente if you get Higuain.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
All of hte anti-Higuain posts are right on. He's not the type of striker we need at that price. And we cannot play with three strikers at once. We would be giving up so much on defense by doing that. People need to think about how a formation like that would work defensively, not just offensively. Plus, I don't think that formation would even work that well offensively.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
Agree with Juventude, 3 strikers in a 4-3-3/4-3-2-1 whatever you want to call it would be pretty obsolete defensively.
We would essentially be giving up one of our CB spots and still having our full-backs doing nearly everything on each mans respective flank.
I guarantee you our defensive record would be worse off after a whole season.
Use the Higgy money to try and buy somebody compatible with Llorente. Anybody who can hold down an ss spot and take creative burden off of Pirlo.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
I really don't see us getting an SS. The only way we would get someone that is noticeably better than Vucinic would be to splash A LOT of money. Ibra is the only exception. So lets go for Ibra. If we cant get him, bring in Higuian and we would have a strikeforce of Vucinic, Llorente, Higuian, Giovinco, and in my opinion for the 5th spot we should bring back Pasquato, who in my opinion has the ability to become a top player.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
I'm not ruling out Jovetic despite what Devi has said about Fiorentina not selling to Juve. Money talks and Fiorentina will listen if we're the highest bidder and we offer a player like Quags as well.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
ok...if Fiorentina doesn't let Jovetic go (which is childish as they aren't our direct rivals..and won't be for some years...hell Milan and Napoli are our rivals now..and we did business with them...and Milan is a more direct rival with Fiorentina now..and they gave Montolivo away)....
...then i'd go for Eriksen from Ajax...or Isco from Malaga...or other 5 players that we could get at that price (or lower) to be compatible with the squad, the league, the tactics and striking colleagues.
last year i screamed for Higuain...i won;t deny he is a very good striker...top class...but I don't see a place for him here...and we won't pay to bench him

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
There is a place for him, but we better sell Quags, Matri, and Giovinco if that were to happen. Then we would still need a cheap SS. He's not a bad option, but just not a good use of money at 20+ million. If we're going to spend a lot on a CF, he needs to be much, much better than Llorente.
If we are able to sell our other strikers, we can afford to spend so much more on a SS than we can a CF.

indeed if Higuain comes that will happen.
and then our striking department will be Llorente, Vucinic Gio, Higuain. means we stick with the 3-5-2 as it is hard to make a strong 4-3-3 with them (even in we put Pepe/Giacc..or Diamanti out there too)...
and we sell 2 competent, proven strikers for the league and take a risk and splash a big deal of money. this would be a bad...bad move.
and as of diamanti...i can't understand where we are gonna play so many depth players...
...all we need is a top SS and a top LWB and we are set. changing asamoah back to CM will secure depth to all 3 position in the middle(Pogba, Giacc being the others)...PDC and Peluso cover the left, Padoin, Caceres (and maybe Isla) the right..and so on.

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
best solution play 3-5-2 again but with vucinic/gio - llorente-higuain up front but i can't see us signing higuain if marotta is around
but in all seriousness it would be a HUGE signing for juve and serie a the biggest striker transfer to italy since ibra went to milan. Hopefully this can be the summer when we FINALLY sign a top striker... but im also prepared for the reality of another mercato of diamanti, poli and pazzini

Re: Juve & Madrid in Higuain meeting
I really doubt Llorente and Higuain working as a partnership, just a feeling of mine. Stylistically I don't think it would work. One or the other.
And nah, Higuain is a very talented striker but no comparison to Ibrahimovic. Balotelli back to Italy- I would place the transfer more on this level.
