Clean Debate Section?
The clean debate section is there keep threads clean from trolling, spamming etc.
So does that imply the general section allows all of that?
Can't the general section be serious like the clean debate section? The clean debate sections look kinda inactive too.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
i Think they have to rename general section to "Transfer discussion" one might say once transfer season is over then there is no talk but indeed there are plenty of rumors even long before transfer season
and healthy rivalry between fans is what made football interesting i imagine if no fan would as you guys consider troll other fans how interesting this sport would become , other than swearing the other stuff shouldn't be categorized as trolling

Re: Clean Debate Section?
I'm sure many here would enjoy if the General Section was more like the clean debate section.
But we know that'll never happen. Having a subsection specifically set aside for such discussions is great, but see the problem lies in the size and amount of traffic the general sections sees. As well as the type of member that post there.
There is no way in hell one can post a topic without it derailing, becoming a flame fest, barca vs madrid, league vs league, etc
So yeah. My two cents.
Besides having the general section become a clean debate section would mean more of our posters taking responsibility for what they post other than the mods having to monitor every little detail.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
I think the statement that it's only "trolling and spamming" that's prohibited is misleading. Of course those aren't allowed in the GS either. The goal is to remove the jokes, memes, and general silliness that can clog up the GS and get in the way. The Clean Debate section takes those away and allows for JUST soccer talk, but I kinda like the way the GS is now, with all its culture and fun.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
How about maybe they swap roles? Like instead of the clean debate section being inactive, it can be renamed the General Section, while there can be a section called 'fun talk' or something.
Besides, the meme's most of the time aren't even funny.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
Well the general section would pretty much be a clean debate section, while the clean debate section would just be a fun talk section. So the main section would be the current clean debate section.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
The General Section is for general footy talk, including memes, jokes (however unfunny or overused), and light banter. The Clean Debate Section is for clean, straight debate. The Rightback Section is for boring X>Y threads and other nonsense that's not really worth most peoples' time.
They all have their uses and names applying to and representing them. They aren't changing because they're currently serving their purposes. Move on.
Give an inch, and they want a mile.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
They are serving there purposes, however I think the clean debate section needs to be more active.
There are plenty of threads I can see in the general section that would be more suited to the clean debate section.
But I think people are being put off posting in that section because it looks inactive and it's not the be all and end all section of the forum.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
If you feel the CDS needs to be more active then post in it more, and make the posts of top quality so that others will see them and wish to contribute in a similar manner. Changing the name of the section does nothing.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
I know it probably won't make much of a difference, but how about maybe moving the section so it's under the general section?

The kind of do in a way. Like usually most people go to the general section. So when they go to click it, the clean debate section will be just below it.
I think the clean debate section should be the same rank as the general section.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
They really don't. We've seen three different iterations of the forums, and several more organizations of the forum beyond that. The traffic in the sections does not correlate to their positions. Move on.

People don't always debate mate. It will never be as active as GS. No other section will tbh.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
Nah, I'm just saying if it was removed the clean debate section would be the most active. Maybe the clean debate section could be the new general section with the general section being renamed to something like 'fun talk' or 'banter' etc?
Also I think positions do kinda matter.
The clean debate section could maybe be moved to the top for a while to see if it makes a difference. Also because it's named as 'clean debate section', it kinda means it's not important because it's not called 'general section'.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
It'll probably be fine for ever, but this idea could maybe improve it.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
If not the whole idea then maybe the section can just be moved to the top/under the general section.
It would kinda show along with banter etc serious discussion is also valued.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
My main problem with the clean debate section is that sometimes I'd love to add some humorous reply, but then I refrain as it doesn't fits the Clean Debate statutes and then I stay away from that section altogether as I just don't feel I can write the way I'd feel comfortable there -_-'
(E.g. with the Suarez debate there I'd have loved to write "Sure I'd have done the same thing...but as I'd have worn gloves it wouldn't have mattered" or stuff like that )

Don't really think there's a problem with a bit of humour.

Re: Clean Debate Section?
Well, the problem is where to draw the line and as a mod I can't pose a bad example. ^^
