As I understand it , he had a career choice to make this summer, offers came in and he had to decide whether or not it was a good career move staying here to start all over again from scratch for the 4th straight year and he came to the completely rational conclusion that doing that was pointless.

So he went to Mou for assurances , got them , but eventually promises that were made went unfulfilled.

So he wants to leave and I'm fine with that.

I haven't read anything anywhere about him not being willing to play as a centre forward, that's the position he's played his entire career, though he goes about i in a distinct way.

Honestly I;m happy for him now. He's been a bit too selfless at Madrid just for the sake of allowing others to flourish, and if all that gets him is lies then he might as well move on. I think the entire thing will have given him a new perspective on where he wants to be in life and how he can get there, and while things can just as easily change in a day, I hope they don't. This is not where he will fulfill his potential, not a great fit for him stylistically or personnel wise (despite Ozil and Higuain).

It's all been a very cathartic realization to an illusion I've kept in my head for a long time, a dream that was never ever going to a reality.

For what it's worth, I promise it has nothing to do with Ronaldo , I always saw him as a obstacle but now I just see him as someone pursuing his own personal interest in the natural order of the world.

Benzema is simply not a winger, playing him on the wings would considerably decrease his output. He's not had a great start to the season but he's had a lot of playing time this season, he'll improve as the season wears on.

I don't believe the rumours that Mourinho lied to him, Mourinho would always play the striker in form, last season it was Benzema, the season before it was Higuain and so far this season it's been Higuain but that could easily change if Benzema finds form in the next few matches. He's expected to start against Sevilla over the weekend, if he performs really well, he might start against City.

The answer to the thread title is no, Ronaldo is simply too valuable to Real Madrid to be sold. He represents the winning mentality of club in its present state. I stand to be corrected but in his over three seasons at Real Madrid, Real has won EVERY match in which Ronaldo has scored (and that's a lot of matches) except a few against Barcelona. He's not just a monster on the pitch he's the team's good luck charm and I don't see how any other player in the world bar Messi can adequately replace Ronaldo.

I cringe everytime someone says they want Ronaldo replaced for Benzema on the wing

Ronaldo plays on the left and he's right footed, which means it isn't the best position to cross imo. Plus I don't think he's a master crosser. Benzema in his overall play is better. He's sort of more calm and intelligent on the ball.

However Ronaldo is a better inside forward the Benzema. It just depends on what tactics Mourinho wants to play. I wonder if this could work:

The thing about Benzema on the right is ...while he can have success there, it's a complete waste of all his talents. It takes away all his favourable angles, and he ends up just playing smart football and getting results.

He operates better from the centre with a free role.

From the left I think he's pretty good cutting in.

Anyway I think this could work:

Ronaldo would be an inside forward/similar to what he is now, Marcelo would overlap, do all the dribbling etc. Benzema in a free role and Higuain being a goalscorer. Ozil would provide width on the right, similar to how he did vs Barca last season. Like a RAM/RCM.

That's just unrealistic.

BTW i cant hate benzema, he is algerian.. but I want him to try harder and to succeed at real madrid..

Though Benzema is a great player, Ronaldo is better.
