Yeah, I'm not sure why people keep mentioning him either. He could be a good signing, but he can't be the signing to build on immediately and there isn't even any sort of certainty over his future.
If he can be bought for around 8-10M and then another striker can still be signed I'd be for it though
Why ?That would be a waste of funds when we're running on a pretty tight budget and collecting as much funds as possible to purchase a top quality forward like Jovetic..Like i said he would only come back by Feb 2013 and it would be better if he restarts his career at a mid-table club where there would be less stress.I wouldnt take the risk on buying him now, definitely not.
It's low risk, like Elia was

I actually agree with that, money can and should be better spent right now
A loan with buy option completed in the summer market wouldn't upset me though, that's even lower risk

Marotta to SkySport24:Van Persie? Top player is not just a name and a price with a major attack. Top player who has improved our quality. It 's a great player and Arsenal is not intended to deprive the player. You can not treat a player if he does not want the property.
Jovetic? It 's just that the company has said the player not for sale, we have not ever dared to approach. "
Say good bye to both of them now
Pazzini here we come

Re: The Striker situation
We may have just become a less attractive option because of this betting scandal. If we have to have a caretaker manager, I wonder who it will be because two of Conte's assistants were also named.

i think the scandal doesnt have as much to do with it as the state of calcio right now. If Juve were to get to at least the semis in CL, that would be huge, and actually give us a chance to sign a top 1% footballer from the epl/bundesliga/la liga.
I hope it doesnt get to the point we're we'll need an interim manager. TBH im not really informed that well on the issue, but conte doesnt seem like the type.. but if it did get to that point i would really enjoy seeing adp coach for half a season.. probably not realistic, but would be fun to watch.

Re: The Striker situation
“Van Persie is an excellent player and Arsenal have no intention of losing him. It is not possible to negotiate for a player if the club is not open to talks.
“As for Jovetic, it’s only right that Fiorentina ruled he is off the market. We never even tried to get close to him.”
Roma won the tug-of-war with Juventus for Mattia Destro, although Marotta maintains it was never that clear-cut.
“We simply observed the Destro situation. Roma got themselves a very good deal.”
“The top player we are looking for is not only a name with an important price-tag attached. What we mean by top player is someone who can improve our quality level.
Who else is left? Who could be the "top-player"? FFS if it is Pazzini im going to be very angry.......

Re: The Striker situation
I'm very worried that we waited too long. Even if Conte gets something like a few months ban, I don't see a big name striker wanting to come play for us during that time.

I wouldnt say 'impossible' but all are highly unlikely.
Pazzini and Dzeko are the alternatives.

Re: The Striker situation
For about a couple of days ago I was sure that Juventus was going to buy both Jovetic AND RVP, but now look what has happened, it looks like we aren't going to buy neither of them. I don't think that Dzeko will do well in Juve, Pazzini can be a nice sub but nothing else. If Marotta doesn't get a star-striker I will be quite upset.

Not really..It was one or the other..Jo-Jo was always seen as an alternative to RVP.Both look out of reach as of now.
If City buy RVP we'll have a huge chance to lure Dzeko to Juventus..If he is unavailable too, then we'll probably end up with Pazzini.

Re: The Striker situation
It looks like the Destro move could end up costing Roma up to 19 million euros if certain terms are met. Even if all of the terms aren't met, it sounds like he will at least cost 16 million. Seems a bit high for a player that is somewhat unproven.

Pretty much what they paid for Osvaldo, which is odd indeed
I'm not sure why you would drop Borini for Destro, just don't see the reasoning but I'm sure Roma has a plan, maybe they have a lot of faith in Lamela or something.

Sounds like another rumor from the British press. There are also renewed rumors about Jovetic. So, I'm not really sure what to believe.

Why don't we try to sign Cardozo from Benfica?
he scored:
38 goals 09/10
23 goals 10/11
28 goals 11/12
Great striker right here...

Re: The Striker situation
Juventus plan to spend £70m on Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, 28. The package includes both the transfer fee and the player's wages and is intended to ensure they beat Manchester United and Manchester City to his signature.

This is where I found that. It's transfer fee and wages combined.

Re: The Striker situation
Dzeko's availability depends on Tevez staying, Balotelli not being an idiot, and any potential striker signing. Of the likely contingent of Tevez, Aguero, Balotelli and Dzeko, Dzeko is likely the 4th choice striker. If they all stay, it's hard to see him getting much game time. If City sign RVP (or Higuain, if you believe the rags), Dzeko would likely be relegated to towel-boy, and would be very likely to leave.inderbaby wrote:I prefer Dzeko to RVP but i'm not sure he is for sale!
I would much rather have RVP, but that's really a personal preference. I haven't been convinced by Dzeko since his time at Wolfsburg. He looked to have found form early in the season for City, but completely disappeared without a firing David Silva supplying him. Dzeko seems to go hot and cold depending on the players supplying him. RVP, on the other hand, is quite capable of creating and bringing other players into the game. they have very different styles of play, but they are both legitimate approaches. TBH, I really don't know which suits Juve's best. The one advantage Dzeko has is age. He's just turned 26 where RVP will soon turn 29.

Great striker right here...
Yeah, he's a good technical player and link up play well. Class player. One thing he can't do though is running behind the defence because he'll always be the slowest man on the pitch.
