soooo, how did he play?
Was good with the ball and made some good efforts from the flank. He troubled Brazil enough in the first half , though he could do better with his movement without the ball.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Guardado had one good cross that could lead to a goal (if not for Thiagod Silva's intervention), and that's it. Tbf to him he didn't have the ball much to do something.

Kind of hard for Guardado to something offensively when he's defending the whole time

Same could be made for most "big" football teams that play in the Euros. Albania would be a force if all our Albanians around the world would play for our team.

Only that Cacao, Marin, Tasci, Trochowski and Aogo are not even called up this time. That makes only 7 of 23 this time, and of these only Poldi and Klose were not born within current German bordersaleumdance wrote:

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Despite meeting Messi several times throughout the season at club level, Marcelo says there is always a special feeling to locking horns with the Barcelona star - whom he rated higher than his Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Right now, Messi is the best player in the world and it is a pleasure to play against him," Marcelo told Globoesporte.
"We will see what happens, if we can mark him. Argentina are more attacking [than Mexico], so we will have space to play.
"But we need to be careful, because they can score goals easily. You cannot talk about one or two players only, but about their entire team.
"But we also have several good players and we will try to secure a good result."

Marcelo may be dirty, but at least he's not a liar
Btw, I agree with sports on the width subject, the winger-fullback compatibility thing and all. The impact Maicon made in Copa America proves his point IMO

Ganso is right though. Guardado did nothing. Mexico played so much defense I thought Guardado was playing LB.

And Özil and stuff was born in Germany, so to me he is German. It's something else with Cacau, who came at 18 and is 100% Brazilian. The guy's nationality really is where he was born and grew up in. Any other vision just sounds ultranationalistic to me.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Pele has declared Barcelona ace Lionel Messi BETTER than Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
For many, Ronaldo outshone Messi last season as he inspired Real to the Spanish title.
But Pele insists: "Messi no doubt (is better). Cristiano Ronaldo is not as decisive, but also is a great player."
Asked to compare Messi with Santos dazzler Neymar, Pele added: "Player versus player, Neymar is more technical than Messi because he has more resources, comes out right, left. Messi is left handed, but has more experience and plays football in a more demanding league."

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
You guys would never make it in the US with these nationality discussions lol. In the US, they welcome you as long as you're a productive person and haven't broken the law. It's all about open opportunities to everyone at the core... of course, reality is not as smooth as i make it sound lol.
But you can become a US citizen at age 20, 25, 30, etc and play for the US Basketball team in the olympics and nobody would think much about it. Just the way people think. Being American is embracing a set of values, nothing to do with where you're born or brought up.

Let's ask the Mexicans what they think of your country's openness. Hell, let's ask all Latin Americans. I remember that, right before I (legally) lived in the US nearly a decade ago, I met a girl at the American consulate in Brazil, who couldn't get a visa to visit Disney, because she was Brazilian and couldn't prove that she wasn't going to turn into an illegal immigrant. So dont' come bragging about how open the US welcoming all as long as they're hardworkers.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Laurent Blanc wishes that he had a player of similar ability to Xavi or Xabi Alonso in his France squad for the European Championship.
The 46-year-old took on the process of rebuilding Les Bleus after an appalling World Cup campaign in 2010 and believes his side are lacking a world-class midfield talent, something which Spain seem to have in abundance.
"I wish I had available to me a brain in the middle of the field, like Xavi or Xabi Alonso or a guy who analyses the play with a quarter turn and decides if we do this or that," Blanc said to France Football.
"But for this, one must have the bottle, to impose himself on his club like in the national team and to reach an exceptional level.
"We, as a team are still in a period of construction, and logically our players are still novices in that area.
"[Yohan] Cabaye, [Yann] M'Vila and [Marvin] Martin do not carry much weight at the international level."

Well it does stand to reason that if you wish to enter the US, you need to demonstrate that you intend to come here legally. Most Mexicans, Central Americans, and South Americans have a tough time with this because they are crossing our borders illegally and more often than not, do not show any intention of becoming legal citizens or at least following the process for staying here temporarily. That is not at all fair to the immigrants that actually do go through the legal immigration process to become lawful US citizens. It's those people that I think Sport was referring to.

Re: 2012 International Friendlies
Americans and their wierd sense of nationality. It matters not only where you are born, but where you are brought up, the blood that goes through your veins, who your ancestors are. Nationality isnt what it says on your passport, its what you FEEL and what you feel part of.
