slight tear, not broken... it's a muscle. That's really good news actually. It could have been a 6 month injury to recover from.

Re: Raphael Varane
Still not the best of news though... if he needs surgery, that means there's enough cartilage torn off that they need to clean it out.
Good thing is that nowadays there's HGH and blood plasma treatment to help regenerate some cartilage

Re: Raphael Varane
Real Madrid announced on their official website that Raphael Varane has successfully undergone an operation on his right knee, which he injured against Espanyol on Saturday.
The French international has simply been a revelation for Madrid this season, producing some superb performances gains the likes of Barcelona and forcing his way into Jose Mourinho’s side.
However, his chances of playing in the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid this Friday took a huge blow as he was unable to continue in the 1-1 draw with Espanyol at the weekend.
The former Lens defender received treatment for his injury in Beziers at the Saint-Privat Polyclinic and will remain under supervision of doctors until Wednesday.
The 20-year-old will now sit out the rest of the season but is expected to be training again in six weeks.

Re: Raphael Varane
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane says his recovery from a knee injury is going as planned.
The Frenchman was forced to sit out the tail end of last season following a breakthrough year at the Santiago Bernabeu, undergoing surgery.
He returned to light training during pre-season and he has now confirmed that he has not suffered any setbacks in his rehabilitation.
"My programme of recovery and strengthening of the knee remains the same," the 20-year-old posted on his official Twitter page.
"There has been no particular complication."
Varane moved to the Spanish capital club from Lens in the summer of 2011 and made his international debut earlier this year following a string of impressive performances.

Re: Raphael Varane
They've decided not to play him until after the short winter break. He'll be back in January... next sign of swelling, he's under the knife however. This is a last ditch effort.

Re: Raphael Varane
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits there's no set date on Raphael Varane's return.
The Frenchman is struggling with his knee this season.
"He has been resting. He will be working individually until the end of the year. I hope that he will be training with the team in early January," admitted Ancelotti.

Re: Raphael Varane
Raphael Varane is seen as in a crucial stage of his recovery from knee trouble, with the coming period set to determine if surgery is required.
The Frenchman has struggled with the joint in his right knee ever since returning in October, having spent five months on the sidelines following surgery on a torn meniscus.
Unable to play two games inside a week due to the knee reacting and becoming inflamed, the youngster was originally given a period of rest from first-team activity and strenuous training to try to settle the issue.
With this original period of 10 days extended from mid-November to include the holiday break, the 20-year-old is now seen as entering a crucial moment to see if his knee can respond to more active use.
Medical staff will assess Varane and determine whether or not the conservative course of action is working, or if the player requires surgical intervention.
Yesterday the defender, in the squad’s return to training after Christmas, once more worked away from his teammates in the gym.
