yep, he has been solid in defence since his return, his returning match was amazing good.

Hope he improves though in attack, he needs to build chemistry with CR/benz.

Coentrao being investigated for fraud after allegedly paying €2000 to pass his driving test. if true :facepalm:

Coentrao paid an amount close to 2,000 euros to pass the driving test and get the license fraudulently, according to 'Correio da Manha'. The Madrid player name has surfaced in an investigation that Braga judicial police began a year ago and which are involved more than 500 people.

Coentrao should be removed back to the driver's license and, as reflected in the Portuguese newspaper may claim at trial the lack of time to study because of their intense professional life. The paper also points out that the main l Coentrao concern is that this issue is not known to give that do not affect their profession. The newspaper contacted the player who denied having received the card fraudulently

Fabio Coentrao says he wants to show everyone he deserves to be a Real Madrid player after a season-long loan move to Manchester United fell through.

Coentrao was set to join the Premier League champions on transfer deadline day, only for the deal to collapse with minutes to spare before the window slammed shut.

The Portugal international will now remain in the Spanish capital and is set to fight Marcelo for a first team place under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Coentrao told O Jogo: "I want to do better than last season, despite already being at a pretty high level.

"I want to show everyone that I deserve to be at Real Madrid.

"There was this chance to go to Manchester United, but I am at Real Madrid and that's what matters."

Despite joining los Blancos from Benfica for €30million, Coentrao has struggled to make himself a regular at the club.

The 25-year-old has made just 63 appearances in his two seasons in Madrid and is yet to feature this season, but that is likely to change when they travel to Villarreal on September 14 after Marcelo suffered a hamstring injury in Brazil's 6-0 thrashing of Australia.

If he wants to stay for rotation, then nothing wrong with that. Marcelo's unreliable defensively.

Give the dude some slack. we have a reliable back up left back, and considering marcelos injury record so far, its not too farfetched to say he will have some games to play.

In the few games Arbeloa has played at LB he has done more than this primadonna in his entire Madrid career

Sorry but I'd take Arbeloa as the back up

Nah he was good defensively. Ideally a fullback should be good at both defending and attacking, however being good defensively is important. Especially against top teams in the CL.

He's the reason we lost 2012 CL ffs. Give me a break, because this guy is nothing more the average. I would start him over Marcelo in Copa to rest the Brazilian though
