Well, according to the news he has some bruising at the iliac crest, so he was only doing field-player training and couldn't make any goal-keeper specific training as he couldn't throw himself to the ground to catch balls.

Well in Bayern's test match against SV Seligenporten today, there's Tom Starke in goal, too. Bastian Schweinsteiger is playing, btw.

(BTW, I think it is great that Ron-Robert Zieler and/or Marc-André ter Stegen get playing time in the NT for once - and with Neuer withdrawing himself, there is no bad-mouthing Löw if he for once doesn't call-up his Nr.1 )

The Playmaker needs some rest, no one is a robot. Let his boys do the job against Argentina, like the youth teams smashed Argentina 6:1, I expect thesame for the senior team even without the Playmaker.

In my opinion Manu was much better in Schalke04. Since transfer to Bayern he not doing impress me. I think that currently Adler and ter Stegen are better than him.

Well, at Schalke, Manu Neuer had a lot more to do and thus he had more chances to do spectacular saves. Bayern's good defense often doesn't allow him to see the ball for long stretches and so he has to develop new qualities (like keeping the concentration up despite having othing to do).

I know, but Manu make more mistakes now. These mistakes often result from excessive self-confidence. And I have a feeling that all shots on target landing in goal of Neuer. Much less his spectacular interventions...

Well, I just found stats about the save percentages of the BL keepers:

2010/11:

In the 2010/11 Schalke season, Neuer saved 26 big chances (in 29 matches) and had an average save percentage of 74.6%, while in the 2012/13 Bayern season, he only had to save 4 big chances (in 17 matches) and got a save percentage of 73.7%

So he didn't really become much worse, but the other clubs just didn't manage to create as many big chances against Bayern than against Schalke, which means that Manu Neuer just couldn't look as good at Bayern than at Schalke, while he actually had almost the same save percentage anyway.
