Penultimate training session for the giallorossi before their Serie A debut, which will take place on Sunday at the Olimpico against Cagliari. The first hour of today's session, scheduled at 10 am, will be visible to the press. Luis Enrique will have to verify the conditions of Cicinho and Greco, both injured at the moment.

Last preparation ahead of opening fixture against Cagliari. Luis Enrique thinking about Borriello instead of Osvaldo and Pjanic over Perrotta, defense still in much doubt

The last training session ahead of Roma-Cagliari, the match that will kick off the new campaign, took place at 10am on Saturday. Aside from verifying the conditions of Greco and Cicinho, Luis Enrique will have some decisions to make regarding our starting back four (all four center backs are fighting for two starting spots) and regarding midfield between Perrotta and Pjanic.

11.20 - The training session has concluded. Once again, the usual practice match was not played. Still many doubts over the starting lineup, especially regarding our defense.

Borriello may take a starting spot away from Osvaldo, while Pjanic is up against Perrotta.

Here's a probable formation: Cassetti, Burdisso, Kjaer, Jose Angel, Gago, De Rossi, Pjanic, Bojan, Totti Borriello.

Injury Updates:

Simon Kjaer picked up a knock on his left leg in training this week and was not called up for the match against Genoa. He should be available this week-end.

Miralem Pjanic will not be fit for the match against Genoa, while Totti is now in doubt for the match against Milan as well.

Some bad news regarding injuries:

Fabio Borini will be out for 2 months after sustaining a lesion to his right thigh. The striker will only be available as of after the winter break.

Juan will also be out for at least 30 days.

However, on a positive note, Kjaer and Rosi have been declared fit to play, while Totti, Lobont and Cicinho's conditions remain to be verified during the week.

Another report says that Borini will be out for five weeks, while Juan will be out for two. But, given the fact that Borini will need time to be able to break back into the squad and that Juan was already unfit as it was, their absence lengths will probably be higher than that (a number similar to my previous post).

And yes, great news that Rosi is back (I also never thought I would say that, but it's the truth).

There was a meeting at Trigoria today between Fenucci, Baldini and the representatives of the Gabriele Sandri Foundation, including his father Giorgio Sandri. Gabriele, for those who don't know, was a Lazio fan who was killed in an encounter with the police a few years ago. The foundation in his name would like to have their logo on the Roma jerseys as a sign of respect and unity against violence. Following last night's match against Caglairi Luis Enrique's boys met up this afternoon at 14:00 for training at the Centro Sportivo Fulvio Bernardini in Trigoria: the Giallorossi got started ahead of Saturday's tie against former-coach Ranieri's Inter side at the Stadio Olimpico.
After the inital warming-up phase Luis Enrique divided the team into two groups: the players who took part in yesterday's match worked on recovery, while the rest of the group carried out athletic and tactical work, ending with a match on a small pitch.
Worth noting was the return to training for De Rossi and Osvaldo who were back sweating it out with their team-mates. Moreover, Rosi and Kjaer, despite playing for 90 minutes yesterday, trained regularly (they didn't take part in the recovery session). Nico Burdisso continued his physiotherapy programme.

After finishing the work on the pitch the whole squad stayed on for a few minutes longer in the first team dressing room to wish Juan a happy birthday, as he celebrated his 33rd birthday (which was yesterday) along with his team-mates, in spite of the defeat in Cagliari.

Tomorrow the team will be back on the pitch at the Centro Sportivo Fulvio Bernardini, at 14:00 as usual.
