A comfortable win for us today! ! the best thing was the defense looked far far more solid! ! Kelly looks a beast in RB :O & CM contributed very well to breaking up Valencia's play

my two cents:

Lucas is CLASS... so composed on the ball and just makes us tick. I'm not saying he is xavi, but the way he keeps the movement going and keeps the ball is so wonderful.

Downing - what a signing, will add a lot to our attack.

In general we were rushing to much and need to be more patient. But I think this squad has a lot of potential, and with time can see more of a possession game.

p.s. Only if Aurelio could stay fit, would be one of the best LB in the EPL easily...

I already took much of my time today to watch the Supercoppa Italiana as this means I missed this friendly I was looking forward to.

I only managed to catch the first half Arq.

From what I saw these are my views:

We dominated the first half. Our midfield were very good bringing the ball forward. It's ridiculous how much more a proper left back adds to our attack and defense. We did have some scary moments, but generally we were really good in the first half.

Reina was good in the first half, as was the rest of the defense. Spearing was a beast. He is becoming Lucas. Always runs after balls he loses and manages to get them back. Adam was good and even though a couple of his ideas weren't executed well, the ideas were good. Aquilani seemed a little off pace in the first half. Missed a couple opportunities to create some goals. Henderson is growing on me. Good ideas and never tires. Downing is such a breath of fresh air. Adds good width to the team. He linked up very well with Aurelio. Carroll got to use his feet a lot more today. Thought he did well and made some good runs.

Pretty happy with the half I saw. Still need to catch highlights of the second half. Just got back home.
