Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2018/19
playing full back is a young mans game these days. they need that speed and stamina.McLewis wrote:I dunno 32-year old Kolarov ended up being our best signing last summer. Older fullbacks can be really effective if they take care of their bodies and are playing with the right clubs.
I don't like Licht. Never have and probably never will, but he's a fine full-back. Will probably come good for Arsenal.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2018/19
When a club like Arsenal are looking to sign a 35 years old free agent you can imagine how tight the finances are lol. There won't be many lavish signing, if any. I suspect this is why they took Emery after 1 meeting, he might have been the only one who said "top squad, I don't need any signings" or something like that, they probably got hard when he said that. Arsenal count their sterling like Donald duck's richer uncle

Why would Arsenal spend that much on a back-up right back, anyway? Bellerin is the first choice and they have faith he can get better. He's going to play every league game, fitness allowing. So they need someone for cups games and if/when Bellerin needs a break or is injured. You're looking at someone who's going to play less than 30 games during the season, maybe even less than 20. With other areas of the squad needing strengthening, you don't go and break the bank on a backup player.
There is money for big signings, but not so much money that we can make big signings for every position and every need the squad has.

Don't mind Nick, Jay.
Ever since the Emery appointment, I've noticed he likes taking digs at our club.

It would be stupid to spend 20-30M on a backup RB when you have more important areas to address. Dont know how anyone can criticize a near risk free signing tbh. Guy would be on pretty low wages too.

Last summer i've got a feeling Benatia will join OM. Idk if it was based on something or just a wish.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2018/19
i would argue that Arsenal actually need more competition per position to raise the level of the team, seeing how far you have dropped in the past two years compared to the competition.Jay29 wrote:Why would Arsenal spend that much on a back-up right back, anyway? Matteo Materazzi (Marco’s brother): ”Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in my opinion has already been sold for big money to a team, Manchester United.” #mufc [Calciomercato]

i doubt a serious website such as Calciomercato will not bite those absurd rumors
only 2 times i've read about Vincenzo Grifo, it was in your posts linking him to Juve at first i even thought it was a made up name

Ante Coric arrives in Rome ahead of medical with AS Roma. Roma has an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for an initial fee of €7 million.

wow, what a signing
Juventus have made contact with Atletico Madrid for the signing of defender Diego Godin, who they see as a cheap and effective replacement, if Medhi Benatia leaves the club. [calciomercato]
Yeah, seems legit. Lets sign a player much better than Benatia, just in case Benatia leaves. I feel if the opportunity to sign Godin was available, it would be a reversed order
[CN24] Adrien Rabiot has reportedly asked his agents to negotiate a move to Napoli to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, who handed him his professional debut back in 2012.
Not buying this one

I hope you are not serious, they are no more reliable than the Daily Mail.
Pretty much everything posted from them turns out to be utter bullshit, if anything I'd argue the Daily Mail are more reliable.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2018/19
seeing that picture, I honestly believe GL could become a known outlet in the football media world, hell with our creativity and FIFA knowledge (@Kaladin) we would probably be kings of the bullshit merchants come transfer season too. Instead we're wasting our talents on a dead forum for a few up votes ffs.
Need an oil money injection like City and PSG from @Kaladin to get the venture underway though of course
Plus since we're a forum with users all over we already have our Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A experts ffs
