Is this due to the Vermaelen injury?

Mostly because of Umtiti's injury, I think. There's been talk about a new CB coming in January before Vermaelen got injured. But then again, it seems like he gets injured every 3 weeks.

yeah from what i read Murillo would come in on loan just for the rest of the season and then in the summer DeLight will be the priority. The problem being Umtiti might miss most of the season and Verm is injured every other game he plays. Honestly though they should of kept Marlon or Mina and got rid of Verm and they wouldn't be in this mess. Verm is forever injured not sure why they counted on him to be fit.

Seems Rabiot is coming for sure. He is decent I guess as a squad player but he is not elite. He is still young but I dont think he has the talent to be elite. If the wages are ok, then yes him on a free is a good squad option. But I would much rather go for FDJ who looks like an elite talent.

Frenkie is good but he needs to show something outside of Eredivise. Anyone can shine at Ajax. Wouldn't pay 70M or whatever they'd ask.

Rabiot for free isn't bad, for rotation purposes he can be useful.

As far as young talent goes, I think we should shift our focus to Ndombele and Aouar.

I agree that Eredivise talents have flattered to deceive in recent years. One should be extremely careful when buying from there as the step is huge from the Eredivise to other top leagues. However, in FDJ's case, he has done it at CL and NT level this season.
Ndombele is an interesting prospect, played well against City. We will have a great opportunity to scout him when he plays against us. We have good relations with Lyon so if we want him, I think it could work.

"For free" usually means they can command a huge salary though, since clubs don't have to pay a transfer fee they are likely to agree. Could also mean he would resist being sold in the future as he would be unlikely to get a better deal.

This is the guy whose mom regards him as equal to Messi, has been badmouthing every coach in PSG since Ancelotti for not playing him enough and threatening to leave them, as they are now. The entourage with Rabiot is more toxic than his wannabe and self-righteous attitude. This kind of behaviour might get you a player for free, but he is going to cause a mess in the dressing room later on when things don't go his way (which they probably won't).

He also bad mouthed France NT and refused to be on the injured reserve list for World Cup squad. He definitely doesn’t have the type of character Barca needs, nor the quality as he’s basically another Gomes as far as I’m concerned.

I saw these rumors today

1 - That we are leading the race to land DeJong for 75M.

2. That we have an offer out for DeLit as well but will not increase beyond his agents wage demands. Meaning he can opt for us but there is a good chance he will go elsewhere.

3. Rabiot will also sign for Barca for free and join in the summer. This has been ongoing so no surprise. I keep reading PSG will try and sell Rabiot to City or Juve in the winter to avoid losing him for nothing, and to also avoid Barca signing him. I really hope thats what happens as I see Rabiot as Gomes 2.0

4. We have on the table a 150M euros + Coutinho offer on the table for Mpabbe. Reasoning being that PSG have to sell either one of Neymar or Mpabbe to comply with FFP and this would be a great deal for PSG as they recoup the Mpabbe fee plus get a top player in return without having to worry about breaching FFP again to replace the frenchman. That said it would be pretty nuts to include a 130M player plus 150M in transfer fee for anyone. I love Mpabbe but that's a ton of cash.

5. Celta trying to sign both Munir and Denis Suarez in January. Munir is also being chased by Sevilla and Betis and Denis also being chased by Chelsea. If Barca were smart they would cash in on both if a good price were to come in.

I think Madrid will go after Mbappé tbh, they players and they have the money to sign whoever they want.

Having said that Neymar can convince the owners to bring his mate Coutinho to Paris to add to his Brazilian entourage.

I heard PSG value Mbappe higher and are more willing to let go of Neymar should FFP step into their front yard.

That said, I wouldn't mind Neymar coming back. He was a great sport on and off the pitch for us.

PSG tripled his salary, offered him to be the main man, I don't blame him for leaving. I don't think he burned any bridges on his way out.

He acted like a twat on his way out. Besides why would he move back? He clearly values money more than prestige and Barca can't match his salary.

Plus not only did he bad mouth the president and board after he left, he also sued them for a sign on bonus the club didnt pay after he accepted the payout fee from PSG. Also apparently did everything behind the clubs back to leave. He wanted the cash, so fk him now no one takes him seriously.

Reports today claim a deal is struck with both Rabiot and Jean Clair Tobido. Both will join in the summer.

Reports also claim Munir turned down a contract extension from Barca and agreed to join Sevilla for free in the summer. Denis is rumored to also be headed out this winter, most likely to the Premiere League with Arsenal and Chelsea the favorites.

Anyone know anything about Tolido? For free in the summer seems like a good deal, even if we just offload him in a year or two for a profit

Wouldn’t surprise me if he turns out to be another Marlon. Guy who comes in, we loan out then sell for a small profit.

Barcelona want to formalize the agreement with Todibo to incorporate him next summer. The French centre back of 19 years will arrive for free next summer. [@gerardromero]
