ronaldo's brand took a massive hit around 99, when he got that injury. prior to 02 world cup he wasn't among the strikers touted to win the golden boot. he also had that bad game against (i'm thinking lazio or chievo) at the end of the 01/02 season that saw juve win the title. i don't think pogba nor anyone on that french team has taken any hit, anywhere but the internet. if utd don't want to spend the money on him because of this game (which as hans mentioned, scouts and managers aren't as knee jerky), juventus would gladly keep him. zico also took a massive hit after 82, and even worse when he went to italy, and so too maicon when bale tormented him

The only one I can think of now is R9's brand tbh.. The WC final, the 2 injuries,lossing the league title under hector cuper and that final day penalty controversy to juve in 98..

Another case imo, is the baggio one from 92 - 94. With the 94 penalty miss being the iceing on the cake that broke him. Aside the fact that he was never really healthy. Guy played with pain almost throughout his career similar to R9
