And Roma score rofl

2 wins out of 2 for Spalletti now.

Could see them making a comeback and nicking that 3rd cl place.

SES scoring again hmm

Great to see Salah back on the scoresheet. Perotti wasn't too bad either. Excellent assist on his debut.

DDR's injury hurts though. Goodness me they're piling up again.

Certainly. Doesn't matter Samp's form, we simply don't take too many points off of them.

I will say this though....early signs indicate a very good January for this club. Been a long time since that's happened.

EDIT: Remember, S.....we couldn't beat bottom of the table Verona Laughing. We're going to make it hard for ourselves against Samp.

Oh and the man love in the dugout after that SES goal was magical. I have not seen that from our boys since we were still wrecking teams in Rudi's first season. I hope this leads to more scenes like that.

Yeah the signings look really positive for roma. El Shaarawy with 2 goals and Perotti with a solid game and great assist. But the team is clearly still under construction as Spalletti just got here. Its gonna be tricky vs Samp.

McLewis, whats up with Florenzi? when is he coming back?

From what I've seen, except his goal, Salah was still disappointing for me. Very poor decision making most of the times.

And Berardi.. really, match was destined for a draw at Nainggolan's idiotic foul

Perotti played same way also in Genoa, you could realize it he was ready for a big team .. he doesn't score much but he is a sort of advanced regista very useful for team with his great intelligence
Milito,Palacio,Perotti .. Genoa loves offensive Argentinian players with brain
At the end Roma did the best mercato in January
Today Roma suffered much in 2nd half, but Sassuolo is legit and Roma had  a defence not worthy of a Serie  A team .. 3 points very important in its 3rd place fight against Fiorentina.

Last reports said he'd be out a few weeks so he's definitely a doubt for Samp, Carpi and probably Madrid. If anything, he needs the rest as he's been rather poor for a while now. I trust TGIP's tinkering abilities to find a suitable solution his absence, which he's done well so far.

We have 4 midfielders. We sold Guarin . Mancini chose to sign Eder ( another CF ) and not Soriano ( a midfielder box to box, already 6 goals this year ) because we 'd played with 4-2-3-1.
Well.
Today we play with 4-3-3.

I wonder why Mertens doesn't get more time with Napoli. He's very good.

He gets a lot of time, basically Napoli's 12th player. But Insigne is just better and Callejon works his ass off so the others can play their game.

Edit: Insigne has 5 assists and 3 goals in the last 5 games. 11 goals and 11 assists total, there's no way to bench him.

I guess if Callejon has a role to play over Mertens it makes sense since they play with 3 midfielders as opposed to a 4-2-3-1 or something. I just think Mertens should be a starter for someone, by minute he is actually more productive than Insigne or Callejon over the last two seasons (and still even this season, though he's played almost 1000 minutes less than Callejon and 600+ less than Insigne), fwiw. I've always liked him.

Super sub is his best role, he has started enough games for Napoli to show that he does his best work coming from the bench. The minutes argument doesn't say too much, goals per minute Zaza probably looks better than anyone but Higuain this season. Mertens comes in when everyone is tired and exploits it with his quick and smart movements.

He is a better dribbler and creator than Callejon for sure but Callejon works really well off the ball, pressing and creating space, he is always where they need him to be. The "10" role that Mertens would play is deservedly Insigne's, no two ways around that.

Its the same situation that Gabbiadini is in, his (g+a)/min is even better than mertens, but Higuain is just better. Napoli has excellent attack all around.
