Iniesta
Why does he still start for both Barca & Spain? He's been finished for about 3 years now. He might be the most protected player of all time, I genuinely cannot think of another attacking player who wouldn't get crucified for going over a year without a goal or assist.
Great player but out of all the players of this Barca team of the past couple of years he's easily the most fortunate to play with Messi. Must be great to be able to take entire seasons off & not receive any scrutiny because the greatest player of all time will be there to bail you out time after time again. If only the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Ballack etc were afforded that level of luxury.
At least in his short prime he would occasionally create a fair bit or score the odd goal but he's basically Willian without the workrate these days.

Re: Iniesta
He turns up only for big games nowadays. Doesn't statpad against scrubs (look: Fabregas) hence poor goal/assist count.
Also in current Barca setup he's given a more defensive role. Absolutely vital and key player.
He missed one game this season and Barca couldn't string 2 passes in mid.
Not even going to comment on 'Willian w/out workrate' trash.

Re: Iniesta
There's some eyebrows raised for no goal or assist in over year, but for AM that isn't such news apparently. He's played better recently and turns up somewhat in big games. Though his inclusion for Ballon d'Or 2014 was definitely a joke.

The amount of work Messi does for this current Barca team is unprecedented surely. Not only the primary goalscorer & playmaker but at times you'll even see him move centrally (last El Clasico for example) to do Iniesta's job for him. You only ever see that kind of workload in the NBA.

Pedro is bigger than us as well. Means nothing.
He should gift all his medals to Thiago Messi for Christmas the slaphead.

This is from someone that says hazard (a young winger in his prime) shouldn't be judged on goals as football is more than just goals or stats, yet has the nerve to judge this goat playa based on thesame thing.

Hazard isn't getting outscored by Ramos & Terry mate.

Re: Iniesta
I'm fine with him not assisting all season if he provides some in the crucial stages of CL.
And he did, in the quarter finals and in the final.

Re: Iniesta
He was an absolute beast in the first leg against us as well.
One of the greatest players of all time, doesn't get nearly as much attention as he could merit, due to Messi.

Played really great as far as I remember. Overshadowed by Messi of course, but still really great.

Btw, pipe down before I expose your boy & his Messi assisted inflated stats

We're talking about footballers here not poachers.

It's not so much about gifs as it's a philosophical matter about the nature of reality.
For harmonica, if a tree falls in the forest and OPTA doesn't have a 'tree fallen' column, it doesn't make a sound.

So OPTA failed somehow to record Iniesta's "absolute beast performance".@Hapless_Hans wrote:linetty wrote:You need to provide gifs Hans, otherwise it didn't happen

Re: Iniesta
It's funny how Chelsea fans are still butthurt about Iniesta.
If you want assists, we've given you the top assisting midfielder of the past 20 years. Enjoy.
