Luis Suarez:
Honestly, I just ended up in the central position during a game by chance, and Leo said to me: ”Stay there.” Afterwards the coach saw that we’d come up with a good solution by ourselves, and we started trying it out. No one officially took the decision, but obviously from then on it was the coach who started putting me as number 9.

Barca record under Lionel Coachessi (took over as Barca coach after Luis Enrique's defeat to Real Sociedad on January 4th):

Played: 21
Win 20
Draw: 0
Lose: 1
Goals scored: 66 (3.14 per game)
Goals conceded: 14 (0.66 per game)

What a coach.

Choachessi seems tired in the last few matches . He is not taking any break . Why didnt coachessi rest himself before the upcoming tight fixtures .

But he did. Coachessi benched player Messi in both Argentina games during the intl. break. DAT squad management by Coachessi.

He also rests in the field when there's no need to exhaust yourself.

Btw, game against Sevilla will be his 50th league game in a row. What's the record on that?

Messi tells Pep to play centrally, then makes the switch to the right. Pls Messi, make up your mind.

No way that quote is real Laughing

Messi is truly unique. Coach/Player/board/Tax Fraud hybrid. Not even Pele or Maradona managed that.

Well I don't know about that. Maradona got into tax trouble on a rather larger scale than messi, and there's a funny anecdote of Maradona, after fighting with the coach of Napoli, he said to the coach if he didn't like things maradonas way, "you'll have to go then, won't you?"

Actually players used to have way more power than now, especially in the amateur era and early decades of pro football where the stats were the team. The age of the Super coach responsible for all tactical decisions did not really come until much later, some say with Herrera but it was probably a gradual process.

Question remains why didn't Messi do this with Villa? I get Ibra because Ibra wasn't as mobile for the runs to be effective but for Villa? nah.

Barca won league and cl with Villa on the left. The second season Villa was already done, missed at least 10 1on1's before his injury so it didn't matter where he played.

With Villa's finishing it wouldn't have worked out, besides he was playing on the left a lot and no way Messi goes LW.

villa was a beast on the left wing, suarez not so much on the right.

change was necessary to fit suarez in the team.

Messi always had a good relationship with South American players. Think he likes Suarez more than Villa tbh. Aren't Suarez and Messi basically living side by side now because Messi recommended him a house? Estate Agentessi.

Cruyff: "Messi can't coexist with Nerman, can't have 2 captains on the same ship."

Coachessi: "Make that 3 captains, you mad brah?"

Proud
