Whether you declare war or not, I could imagine that in the place where all of Norway, Sweden, and Finland meet it is too cold to do anything about it, anyway

I think we discussed this in the Nordic thread, a long time ago. Some Finns tend to consider themselves Scandinavians, for some reason, but they're not - Finland and Iceland are nordic countries, not Scandinavian countries.

I don't know why you'd include Sweden in your duopoly of great countries, but I suppose it's commendable that you admire Sweden so much that you have to learn their language in school.

How about you stop complaining about our oil, and try to figure out how to make Nokia great again? hmm

I actually have a friend who's Finnish, and he's not a fan of Sweden - especially, not the fact that he had to learn Swedish in school. I don't meet him very often, but when I do, he can't help but complain about Sweden in one way or another. The last time, it was Swedish meatballs from Ikea, which had made him sick Laughing

He mentioned once that people who live closer to the Swedish border, tend to be more fond of Sweden.

Came for the Odegaard reaction, stayed for the Finland bashing.

The Swedes and Norwegians are definitely closer to each other in every way than to us Finns. Denmark doesn't feel as Scandinavian to me as those two. And we're Nordic, not Scandinavian, but hardly anyone outside of the Nordic countries knows this - and it doesn't matter. I'm just happy we're not close (as a people) to the Russian sheeple.

just looked at a world map again.. honestly i used to think Finland was a miniature country way out there on an island along with Iceland Laughing

We are a bit of an oddity, I think most Finns would struggle to explain our origins. What I remember is that we originated in the Volga river area (pretty near to Moscow) and our ancestors emigrated from there some 3000 years ago. I suppose we were quite segregated up here in the north, with the Gulf of Finland creating separation, and thus developed into this small niche of people that we are today.

yes exactly thats what i meant with my Iceland and Greenland comparisons... perhaps not geographically but spiritually/culturally Finland are in the middle of nowhere.
