The hell are you doing?

Asides from the fact you just paid 88 M for a player essentially based on 4 good games, what on earth are you going to do with a midfield of Khedira, Alonso, Kroos, James, Modric, Isco, Di Maria, and Illarramendi?

Isco and/or Di Maria will probably leave, but that still leaves you with 6 absolutely top quality midfielders, and with 2 World Cup winners in there, good luck benching any of them.

And that's not even getting into the fact that unless you drastically change your system, literally the only player that will be played in his natural position is Khedira

I'm genuinely curious, what is the management thinking?

With a 4-3-3, I can only see this working:
Kroos Modric
Alonso
Assuming Di Maria stays, he'll be a bench player, and can be an impact substitution either in midfield or in place of Bale/CR...
James... I got no clue
Isco will be lucky to play 5 minutes all season
Khedira will take a bench role and serve as a sub for anywhere in midfield
Illara will surely go elsewhere, probably on loan...

But really, I'm pretty worried.
80m for James is excessive.

probably swap to 4-4-2

dimaria/james--kroos/alonso--modric--bale/james

isco to fill in dimaria pose if he leave.

if not, just heavier rotation (for league, carlo will always sort out his best XI for big match), could avoid the depth problem we had last mid or late season when some players injured, isco in this situation will still get around 35-40 apps imo.

anyway, why would u worry about over-depth issue, u should only worry when it's the otherway round,

thou 88m is too many, but if it's done, just cheer for it.

I have got the same feeling we might play a 4-4-2 next season. Especially if DiMaria leaves which I hope won't happen.

That 4-4-2 is a possibility, I doubt Carlo will change his system though and Kroos and Modric as your two CMs with James playing as a LM is gonna be a sight.

Your depth is obviously the best in the world now, but that's not always good. I doubt Carlo is as excited as you lot

We played without a true CF for the majority of last season.   

So it seems Real fans are also a bit baffled by the signing. But I guess its all the same Real and Perez especially, thats what he likes, to sign all the biggest and exciting stars at the most expensive prices

In the past that brought both success and failure, so now its really up to Ancelotti and co to see if they can turn all the players into a winning team again.

As a Barca fan, its not good to see Real snapping up all the best players around, but I will be hopeful of too much talent becoming a problem instead of forming a winning team

Barca signed Suarez for 90 million, the exact same applies to you guys lol

Except Suarez actually has a position to play in as part of Barca's scheme...  James is basically Isco.  Spending 80 mil to play a kid out of position  Only at Madrid

But i doubt we do that.  The squad fits too nicely for a 4231:

Bale/Jese-----------James/Isco-----------CR/Jese

All you need is a backup striker and you're done given that Jese is out for a bit and you need more than one guy there as cover.  Bad news for Illaramendi all around though.

Losing DiMaria is going to be tough but at least this time we are replacing creativity with creativity and not like last season were we replaced creativity with a strictly goal scoring winger

James is a very good player, a bit of both ozil and dimaria but still very raw. Having both DiMaria and James is going to be explosive but it looks more and more likely that DiMaria will leaves so I have finally resigned to that fact

Can't really see it being a 4-2-3-1, since Ronaldo doesn't track back. For once I'm hoping it's a 4-4-2.
