There's players out there who impress in smaller games, but struggle in the big games. Which players would you rely on in a big game?

Though he's now faded slightly due to such a heavy workload and declining physicality, Xavi is the player who immediately leaps to mind for his performances over the past years. It might reasonably be argued that he should now be removed from consideration as he might be moving on, but I think it's important that he be mentioned in the thread.

Mueller, Messi and Yaya leap to mind otherwise.

This. In his prime he was one of the best big game players.

Instead of Yaya tho, I'd probably put Iniesta.

it is not about what or how he can do in the big match

it is about his feeling in that big match, whether he happy or not

a happy riquelme = 90% win for his team

Robben Muller Iniesta for sure. I can't think of others at the moment.

Neuer has had errors but mostly godly performances so it's difficult to choose

You can rely on "anyone".

No player will be at his very best EVERY big game. Seems like you dont have 2 good games vs great teams and you get some kind of label. But the reality is no player will be great every single big game. But most players you can rely on to bring it generally speaking and you would want.

There are just a select few who you dont want.

Drogba averaged a goal/cup final and other then the CL final where he got sent off in, I cant think of a cup final he played poorly in.

In regard to games vs Barcelona in particular, he scored a goal against them in the first leg of the semi the season we won the CL, although other then that game I cant particularly remember his performance in any of the other Chelsea v Barca games
