Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The latest Twitter rumour going around is that Arsenal are working on one more major first team signing and then it'll just be squad players after that.
I guess the next possible signing will be Ospina. Not sure if the Manquillo deal is happening.
Links to other players have died down a bit the past week now that we've announced two signings and Khedira has been ruled out.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Maj(avi Martinez)or one should be a DM.
Squadies: Ospina, Remy, Manquillo if it's necessary.
A CB should only come if Vermaelen goes and then I wouldn't consider that as the one major signing as it's a direct replacement. Our three CBs are good and Miquel can be a 4th, won't see much playing time anyway but at 21 he should either be sold or stay in the squad next season for backup. We don't have Sagna to play CB anymore.

In:Cavani,Schneiderlin,Ospina
Out:Campbell,Djourou,Coquelin,Plus some received money from Fabregas and Vela

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Wenger on Jenkinson: "He is going to compete, of course. There is nobody today who can play 60 games at the top level – that’s why you always need two players. People always want for you to have two players in every position or sometimes three, and then they will ask you ‘who will play?’ You don’t know before the season starts but what is important is that you have good players to have a chance to compete at the top level.”
That rules out Manquillo, then.

Joel Campbell getting a new contract apparently. Great news
Could effectively rule out a striker coming in.

if he flops we can still sell for a reasonable price instead of loosing him for free

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Been saying it for a while, but always thought it'd be a striker and no wide forward or a wide forward and no striker. Wenger also referred to Alexis as a striker and I wouldn't be surprised if he did play through the middle.
Giroud, Sanogo, Campbell, Walcott, Podolski, Alexis... that's a good selection, even if most of them aren't suited to a lone striker role.
Reckon we'll sign a goalkeeper and maybe a defensive midfield and that'll be it for our summer business unless Vermaelen leaves.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
GK and DM would make for a fantastic summer.
Perhaps Campbell can play in a more advanced role as he does for Costa Rica, not confined to the flanks, even if he can't play as a lone striker and is allowed more creative license for his country.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
As for our striker situation.. For those even remotely hopeful of Cavani... there's absolutely no way its going to happen.
We are not paying 55m for anyone, nor are we paying 300k in wages.
The 55m is more believable, but the 300k p/week is simply not going to happen. Even a paycut won't bring his salary close to what we' pay.
The only club Cavani could go to in the PL is man u - but even they will probably have to try to sell Rooney to get it done.
Chelsea and City are covered for strikers now - Liverpool is possible, but I also doubt they would meet his wage demands.
I know many wouldn't agree.. But if the rumours of Balotelli being offered for ~15m are true. I would just do it.

Yea agreed on that. We can buy 80m players if they are available but 300k p/w is never going to happen at Arsenal. If he is willing to accept 150k-180k p/w then that's a possibility.
but as Arsene says, once you eat Caviar, it's hard to go back to sausages.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I would trust Sanogo more than Balo. Just saying.
We are a club which has always set high standards and class. I don't see Balo fitting into that framework. That is not to deny his quality or what he *could* bring to our front line. His antics, on and off the pitch, just don't make him deserving of the Arsenal colors.
He could change and become more mature and all that. That's what was said when he joined City. And when he joined Milan. And when Seedorf took over as interim manager there. And what is being cited as a reason if Arsene took him under his tutelage. Wenger got better things to do than babysit Balo this season.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Let's be fair here, when was the last time Balo did something really stupid off of the pitch.
And I'm not talking about dumb pictures or tweets, something that could bring disrepute to his club.
And he did change plenty when Seedorf took over, granted, he looked less motivated but he wasn't sent off once and even if he's been aggressive in his Milan days, on the pitch, I'm struggling to see where this off the pitch stuff you speak of is.
Maybe his City days' reputation precedes him so much that whenever he's brought up it's automatically assumed he's been doing stupid things.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We could have but we really didn't want to. Arsene and the board obsess over the wage structure
We bought Ozil for £41m last summer, and he's on about 140k a week
If he wanted 200k+ he wouldn't be playing for us, even he came on a free transfer. The board just doesn't want it. It doesn't matter to them if the overall cost over the course of the contract is less. The mentality doesn't make any sense to me but it's how they do it
