that said, I imagine the academies etc are terrible over there too? you would have thought some big clubs would have invested in the region by now and offer any talented prospects a basic living wage or something to take off financial burden. It's very odd we've never had a single relevant Indian.

Cricket dominates obviously. Football is definitely the 2nd most popular here but much like a lot of Asian countries, we dont have a strong football culture(except for select places) or infrastructure(money) for the game to really kick off here. It has changed recently with the Indian Super League but i can only hope the format spans across a whole year than just for 3 months.

You're 100% right on the academics part though. In general , we dont have a strong sporting culture. Explains why we've won fewer medals at the Olympics.
