This would make Algeria a proper threat if he's given the authority he needs. There's always been plenty of talent.

Re: Christian Gourcuff in Algeria discussing becoming NT coach
Gourcuff is without a doubt one of the best managers in Ligue 1, if not the best. Yet I would hope he doesn't leave Lorient for an NT that I will not realistically follow, let alone go to any national team (bar France) as his project in Lorient is still left undone as I hope for him to take a larger club project soon.

For a moment i thought Yoann Gourcuff decided to retire early and become a coach.

Wow,this guy coached Lorient from 82-86,then 91-01,then 2003 to this day.
That's 25 years. It also says he played for Lorient from 82-86,is this a mistake or was he a player/manager?

Re: Christian Gourcuff in Algeria discussing becoming NT coach
He was a player manager.... the dude is a managing giant. He has absolutely nothing to work with... no money, marginal talent and all his best players get sold. Yet he manages to play good footy and get results in Ligue 1. Really a fantastic manager.
That said, he's a PR and communications disaster and VERY difficult to work with. Same mold as Guy Roux of Auxerre if anyone remembers.
If he leaves, Lorient will get demoted within 2 years. Calling it now.
