Re: Schalke 04 1-6 Real Madrid
If Carlo trys to be cute and play for a draw or some bullshit like that I'll be physically sick.
Just play our standard formation with our starters and go for the win. Hopefully Carlo can overcome his Italian DNA when it comes to this.
--------------Iker-----------------
Arbeloa----Pepe---Ramos---Marcelo
-------------Xabi------------------
-----Di Maria----------Modric--------
Bale----------------------Ronaldo--
------------Benzema---------------
Jese, Ilarra and Isco as subs.
I'm personally not a fan of this formation, but it;s the one we have been using for the majority of this season since Sami got injured so we should stick with it.

What would be your ideal formation?

Should be an easy victory on paper, but Schalke have a decent team and there's the Germany curse. A 1-0 away win will suffice.

I don't believe in statistics with samples as small as they are in football. Madrid doesn't have a German club problem, they just happened, randomly, to meet German teams at their strongest for a few years.
There is no reason they shouldn't destroy Schalke.
Real 5 - 1 Schalke.

Zealous pls, Carlo's Italian DNA is exactly why you'll break ze german curse.
With Madrid's much improved defensive shape in general play, Schalke's injury concerns - particularly at the back - and Madrid's firepower up top I see no reason why they won't be able to win away, though I'm not expecting the collapse others foresee.

Re: Schalke 04 1-6 Real Madrid
We shan't get carried away on what Real Madrid will do to Schalke. Real Madrid are an elite team the way they perform under Ancelotti yet Keller, since he decided to pick his head off the floor and screw it back onto his head has made a quiet resurgence with United.
How?
-Finally learning the limits of Julian Draxler and that he is not a playmaker or Reus/Hazard/ElShaarawy/ player who can take a game by itself creatively and carry an attack.
-That KPB is not a proper CAM and slotted in deep as a '6' (despite his positional erratics) has injected much energy into the midfield and provided the urgency it has needed.
-Shipping off the ever so useless Jermaine Jones and adding KPB in the pivot with Neustädter.
-Using Max Meyer more often, e.g their brightest U-21 talent.
-Huntelaar returning to provide the needed reference point. Finally benching useless Hildebrand and giving Fährmann when no one else will. Proving all on GL wrong who doubted him.
-Benedikt Höwedes, end of story.
Despite not exactly facing top end competition their 6 game unbeaten streak (and 4 wins within it) has unlocked a bout of flair and confidence within the core engine of their game to which can trouble Madrid, especially considering the lack of urgency and cover in their midfield.
Personally predicting an upset in Gelsenkirchen given how much Schalke have been underestimated in recent form as I cannot comment on what will happen in the return leg.

Good news for Cristiano, more so. Howard Webb would sooner confess that he was a corrupt constable than lay punishment on his 'friend' Cristiano. Watching them together, you would wonder if Webb actually grew up with him playing football barefoot on the earthen fields of Funchal and sharing Francesinha when they're mothers called them home for supper.

That's actually a handsome-sounding Schalke team. They'll still lose, mind you, but that's a decent setup.

I don't see us losing this, but I'm not putting anything for certain. Bundesliga teams have a bad reputation of leaking goals much like la liga teams imo
