Garcia: I admire Conte
Roma Coach Rudi Garcia has welcomed comparisons in style with Juventus counterpart Antonio Conte: “I admire him.”
The Giallorossi are currently leading the Bianconeri by two points in Serie A, thanks to a 100 per cent start to the season.
The capital club’s Coach has since earned early comparisons with his counterpart at Juve, who this week he has admitted he has great respect for.
“I got to talk to him for 10 minutes when Juventus came to Trigoria for training for the Super Cup,” mused Garcia to reporters this week.
“It was a short meeting, but it was enough to understand that in front of me was a person of great depth.
“I admire him for the results he has obtained and because he is a fighter. He has a spirit that is in common with his team.”
The Frenchman lifted the lid on how his approach to the Roma dressing room has been since arriving in the summer, talking of a ‘council of wise men’, believed to consist of the likes of Francesco Totti, Morgan De Sanctis, Douglas Maicon, Miralem Pjanic and Nicolas Burdisso.
“We need more for the team than just a Coach. It is also often easier to talk to a few people than to the whole squad. I know that those players will report my thoughts and that I will be heard.
“It is clear that I am the one making the decisions, but it is like being the boss with a management that is a bit more active than usual.”
