A whole X1 of transfers that costs less than Gareth Bale.

Got this idea from goal.com.I thought it would be quite interesting to make a lineup of your own.Here's how mine goes.


Total cost of this lineup-81.6m euros.

Perhaps it's more interesting to post a starting XI which cost less than Bale and probably still capable of beating Madrid

To be more specific,i was talking about transfers of this season.

Aside from Caballero and Isla they are all transferred this season - and I think the price for them reflects a fair market one.

why have 11 okay to decent players when you could have 1 excellent player.

Perhaps all of it if you take Buffon out... was purchased for less than Bale.

So some of the names mentioned here arent 'excellent' players ?

Outside of that

Build a team around that, you have a CL worthy team.

Because you have to field at least 7 players to play a match and fielding 11 is even better?

some 'were' excellent at one point- villa, abidal... gomez sorta, but none are top players of their league last season at the age bale is.

A player purchased even 3 years ago is no longer comparable to a player purchased now. In the very recent past, the EPL's new deal, the emergence of City, Monaco, Anzhi and PSG and the commercial success of clubs like Barca have increased the money supply available to the football clubs, which inevitably found its way to the players transfer fees and salaries. The world was a very different place in 2009.

90% of the Juventus squad has been purchased in 2011 or later.

Marchisio, Chiellini, Buffon, Bonucci, and Quagliarella are all key players for you that arrived before.

Marchisio is a youth product so we can exclude him out of the discussion.Putting Quagliarella in the list shows you're trying to make up the numbers just so it can reinforce your argument.

Bonucci was the only one i missed out(forgot) who was purchased in 2010 but at the time i do remember Man City and Madrid splashing crazy cash though.

Buffon and Chiellini were the ones i initially excluded out of my discussion.Forgive my maths ,i say majority of the squad has been purchased in 1 or 2 years time.

Yeah Quags hasn't been a starter for more than 6 months for us, so that's an invalid addition

Anyway

Look at those that I listed, all cheap/free, all top players and all have moved within 3 years.

Add missing players to that team, and you have a team that could compete with most, and for less than Bale.

So there you go, a modern team full of talent for less than 1 player coming off of 1 top season.

Can't argue with that tbh.

The point of this is to make as good of a team as possible for as cheap as possible (Under 100M euros or so) using actual prices.
