who said ronaldo will play cf?? ronaldo will play where he feels more comfortable and he has chosen that left side to cut in. Bale will do the role of benzema (who is supposed to play highest up but doesn't)

oh and if bale can actually put a physical body on that right side so that carvajal isnt isolated then I am all for that

I don't think Bale's played as the only main striker. There was that one time AVB was considering doing that it last season, but other than that I don't think so.

bale is a player who in his early days was praised for his physical qualities and work-rate, I am sure that he can do the defensive work better than any of our attackers, it's not hard to do that better than ozil and benzema btw

only main striker?? how do you think Ronaldo got all his goals? ? when we attack atm it looks like 4-2-2-2 thats two attackers both who are supposed to crash the box but only one doing it consistently

I hope so but if he is playing the benz role he wont need to track back that much just pressure the opposition defence better than our current forward. I meant more of a prescence to play 1-2s I mean marcelo has isco and Ronaldo while carvajal has...........noone. the average positions vs betis is in the match thread and you can clearly see how naked his side is of any players

the reality is that Ronaldo spends a lot of time drifting left and right in attack, so a n9 that's not willing to move as much will always struggle. Him playing with Bale upfront cant have its benefits. We are already playing without a box striker in benzema.

No I meant he's not played as the focal point main striker for Spurs. He played off another striker and had a free role.

Ronaldo's not a focal point striker either. However it could work if they both rotate doing that role during a match.

That's interesting. Tbh, I never knew Isco could play a little deeper. I had the impression it would be Isco OR Ozil in each match but being able to play them both definitely changes things.

I'm also guessing we won't be seeing too much of Khedira this season, then?

Khedira plays just to provide the balance. However last game he didn't really do well as a DM, so Casemiro could take his place.

That's interesting. Tbh, I never knew Isco could play a little deeper. I had the impression it would be Isco OR Ozil in each match but being able to play them both definitely changes things.

That was one of the issues of recruiting Isco, it was made clear to him that he wouldnt have to compete with Ozil week in and week out, there is an idea to play both at the same time, but of course, Ozil needs to improve his defending. Most of the preseason, we played one holding mid with two interiors (CMs, Isco and Modric). The difficulty is that it switches the defensive concept entirely, and the transition is not easily made. Carlo told them that if they want to enjoy more possession, they have to be willing to work harder in defense, so that's where we are at.

@Nick Where does Morata fit into all of that? I thought I read somewhere Carlo said he'd feature a lot this season. I'm also assuming Benzema is leaving once this Bale transfer is completed.
