The signing of Bernard would make sense if you take everything into account:

Gervinho, Arshavin out of the club. Gnabry possible loan. Chamberlain playing more centrally from this season onwards.

Also, Gervinho sale brings in approx £7m, so Bernard's £21m fee is really £14m in terms of straight replacement.

But Porto links growing again. This window is a pain in the .
