Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
He wouldn't go to Germany as there the coaches would force him to work on defending, too.Grooverider wrote:he wont leave as hes already played in the two best leagues in europe already, so hes got nothing to prove...i mean going to france, germany or italy would be a down-grade to be fair

Ronaldo could turn out to be a decent team player if he played under Schaaf or Magath for a season or two.

Look. Every player has their faults. CR is one of them. Yet he has a 1:1 ratio for us in 200 fking games. Maybe its the team for once that isn't that good? Think about it..

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
sorry but in all the teams that win the cl lately you see everyone defending and pulling their weight. CR doesnt do it consistently enough and as a wide player, it's a disgrace. you will blame the other players when he will be exemplary in all aspects of the game. his goal tally is unimportant here.

Nah its fking important. Because in every fking big game, its him who scores for us.
Did you see ozil handed the chances ronaldo usually gets vs athletico madrid? Choked harder then a baby eating gummy worms
Goals are important. They win you games.
If we didnt have CR these past couple years we wouldnt have even won most of our big games
You act like him not tracking the full back is a horrible horrible thing. Well ironically most of the goals dortmund scored came from the right or middle. hmmmmmmmm

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
if you want to give CR a pass because he score goals, then ok no problem, but tell him to play in a central position like most of finishers in footy... oh wait, he doesnt want to do it, then it's his goddamn job to track back if he wanna play wide. if he doesnt do it, then he takes the blame.

Robben managed to work hard and realised it'll help his team succeed, so hopefully Ronaldo does too.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
Not gonna happen.
Ronaldo clearly doesn't feel he needs to. And he can always just throw a tantrum and point out his goal tally (Which is because he is a black hole that pulls the ball away from his teammates, whether they like it or not)
No doubting he's a wonderfully talented footballer, but he's holding the team back in the big games. And a team of individuals always struggles to compete with a team of team players.
Providing the team players are also high quality of course. Not relegation fodder or w/e.
Poor work ethic, makes life very difficult for the striker/CAM etc.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
He just needs to realise it's not just about scoring goals. If he's playing on the wing, he has to track back.
Besides, it's not like we wouldn't be able to win anymore if Ronaldo left. Bayern/Dortmund didn't need a Messi/Ronaldo to get to the final.

You're looking at it wrong.
Now, I wouldn't look at it as some major team defining problem as some would, but it's a problem. A little shift here and there on the flanks never killed anybody and i'm sure he capable of helping out the LB when needed, he needs to do it a bit more.
It's a problem, but there are WAY bigger problems wrong with this team.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
as always, you are making no effort to try to understand the arguments presented to you and get defensive. it's constructive criticism, but seems to be wasted on you. Even SAF saw that problem at utd and tried to make changes by moving CR at CF, but he didnt like it... champions league winning football is more demanding than trouncing zaragoza 6-0 on the weekend.Giggity5313 wrote:Yeah

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
Personally, I thought he defended well enough in big games - and that's where it's really necessary. However I think he needs to adjust his attacking mindset to focus on efficiency and simplicity if we are to get the best out of our current set of players. If he can't, we need to buy new players.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
I still maintain that in order for Real Madrid to move to a more proactive style that utilises a dutch philosophy, Ronaldo has to be sold. A club of such stature has been damaged, as Don Andres and Xavi the controller have rightly pointed out. A team like Real Madrid should not be relying on counter attacks like small teams such as Chelsea and Inter Milan, but rather, they should always look to be the protagonists such as Spain. They have the ability and the talention their cantera to play such a dynamic style, they just need the right coach and perhaps a synchronised playing style at all levels, such as that of Barcelona, Bayern Munchen and Ajax.

Sell the (possibly) best player in the world (certainly second), a player who scores 60 goals a season

Madrid could benefit from a more hard working LW, who tracks back and doesn't take up so many shots for the team.Valkyrja wrote:Sell the (possibly) best player in the world (certainly second), a player who scores 60 goals a season
it's a gamble in my opinion.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
i think people often forget that football is a team sports and winning does require everyone to work hard in attack AND defense. teams like Dortmund have reach a CL final because they embody that aspect of the game perfectly, and have achieved balanced. From their collective, they allow stars like Gotze, Reus and Lewa to shine through, that's how it should be. Same with Bayern, same with barca when they rose up.

With the season we just had, it didn't look like a team effort at all.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
no it didnt, and you can find many reasons for that. If you look at all teams that have dominated in football however, you find the same things everywhere: team work, players that attack and defend the same, etc.. it's not rocket science and it's difficult to achieve that with CR in your team. not a reason for not winning, but losing is always an ensemble of things. even SAF won just once with CR (the CL i mean), and in his early years when he was docile and working harder off the ball. as he got older, cockier and harder to deal with, SAF had to take him out of the left wing in big games.

Could benefit more from "more hard working LW, who tracks back and doesn't take up so many shots for the team" than from "a LW who scores 60 goals a season"

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
Yeah but any player with a good shot could probably score 60 a season with a 450 shot count.
Think about it.
Higuain get's 1/3rd of his goal tally with about 380 less shots.

I've read this so many times. Everybody can score Ronaldo's goals, but nobody does. That's the truth.

Re: Should Ronaldo leave Real Madrid?
Yeah that is the truth. But how can people score all of those goals without having enough shots?
How about you let Higuain take 400 shots and see how well he does.
He has the most shots in Europe by a mile. Fact.
He scores twice as much as most strikers, but has so, so much more than twice the amount of their shots. Fact
He doesn't work hard enough for the team. Fact
He makes life difficult for the attack, and the Left back. Fact.
Madrid fans are annoyed with his work ethic. Fact.
Don't let his goal tally fool you. He's holding Madrid back in my opinion.
Sure on paper it's better to have him, but this isn't paper and he's far too much of an individual.
