Ozil and Higuain

Is there a more underwhelming pair in big games than these two? It's pretty embarrassing tbh

Ozil has been embarrassing this season tbh.

Higuaín is class, he hasn't been used in the right way and he's been playing on and off.

They didn't do anything wrong this game. Both had an alright game.

I thought Benzema was the shittiest player on the pitch. Was scared to get near the ball ffs.

The only embarrassing one was Ozil's miss vs Dortmund, it was that bad. Today, one was a nice effort out of nothing which unlucky bouncing out after hit the post, the other 2 were decent shots with great clearance & save respectively. And he assisted goals in both games. How's that embarrassing.

Both Higuain and Ozil also had better games than Ronaldo in those 2 matches. And both played big role setting up Ronaldo's winning goal vs United to get through to the semi. If anything, they both were our better attackers in all those.

I've said it many years ago, Benzema is a flop who actually slowed down Higuaín's development in Madrid. Benzema's had 1 good season out of 3 seasons, when everyone on his team were at their peak form. Just watch him in the mediocre France team. He's what the rest of his team look up to, yet he's failed to produce anything for Les Bleus, always anonymous.

He is not a good finisher, can't head the ball and has zero poaching skills. I never understood why he was so highly rated and will probably never get it.

The Higuain haters are getting ridiculous, he had one half chance, Madrid had at least 3 or 4 far better chances to score. the scapegoat has been chosen. good night sweet prince, another victim of the fickleness of madrid fans

Because WHY in the world would a Defensive-Midfielder spend time in the box?

Benzema has become a joke & wasted talent but he usually turns up in the big games. That much is undeniable.

I don't watch clasico's but every single CL KO and tonight he has been just as bad as Higuain if not worse.

What position does Benzema play? He isn't a defender or a midfielder and he is definitely not a Striker.

He has a decent record in the Clasico's. Great Goals p/g record in the CL.

And he did score that goal in the Semis against BVB! Is he Drogba or Messi in the big games? Probably not, but at least he isn't completely hopeless like the other two are.

Even when he doesn't score he can still contribute. He's simply suffering from Torres syndrome in front of goal lately. Zero confidence and a combination of poor determination/professionalism to get out of his slump.

Ozil scored & assisted vs Bayern, had a bunch of assists vs Barcelona, scored and assisted 3 times vs Dortmund in CL, he has good record in our big games more so than others. A bad miss and he's suddenly hopeless

Expected knee jerk reaction, Ozil was one of Real Madrid's better players on the night, just unlucky he hit the post, had the ball cleared off the line by Juanfran and forced a brilliant save from Courtois, on another night he could have had a hattrick and Atletico would have had their usual trashing.

Ozil needs to get out of that place as fast as he can and never look back. No stability. No clear concept. His talent is wasted there the way that team plays, or doesn't play.

There's a difference between choking and had a very unlucky match like this, neither of those shots was even a particularly poor attempt.

@chad: If that miss was all Higuain's fault, how's that not the case with Benzema, his chance was easier than Higuain

I don't know why Mou started Benzema when he had a midfield trio of Alonso, Modric, Khedira. Those three are solid and were going to control that midfield, getting into the final third and providing service to our frontmen. This is where we usually struggle in big games, Alonso was run over by a rampant Dortmund minefield. Higuain is not effective without service, we all know this. Benz can rely more on individual on-the-ball talent.

Higuain would have thrived in that set up last night. We didn't have any trouble creating chances, I thought Ozil was nicely involved throughout the match and really can't be blamed. Mou is the one to blame again

lol. Benzema is the only one.... and i mean the only one... that helped Modric maintain possession and make space for him. CR7's goal? Corner created by Benz. Ozil's post? Benz taking a shot that was blocked and taking both CBs with him so the rebound was open? CR7's free kick that hit the post? Benz dribbling and getting the freekick.

Higuain of course shot it straight into the keeper in the only thing he did like he has 10000x in big games

That said, our CFs get zero service. It all goes to CR7. So Higuain is always going to look like shat and Benz better because of their style. Both are good players... Benz is just better.

As far as Ozil, we keep playing him on a wing or as a CM. Newsflash: He's a SS/10/very advanced AM. That's it. Mou, like he does for the other guys on the attack, plays him out of position to create maximum space for CR7 and, recently, to allow Modric to play since Modric plays more of a CM.

Some of you guys have no clue.... and i mean none... when it comes to rating players or understanding the game. It's actually embarrassing lol.
