Do you guys think Goetze won't suffer the same fate as Sahin and Kagawa before him in the sense that they left BVB after a terrific last season there only to have the next season play out as less successfully in individual terms? Or is he too good for that?

players will always negotiate for a semi-reasonable release clause in order not to be "stuck". It's only when either a) the player is stupid or b) the club paid a big transfer fee + paying a huge wage, that release clauses get to an insane number.

That's the problem Juve is facing right now btw. Pogba's release clause is insanely low. Vidal's is not unreasonable for an elite club. Lille got cracked with Cabaye and his clause.

You can't really play nice in this game, it would be weird if a club just decided out of kindness of heart that they won't touch their competitors' players. Plus Dortmund are getting a nice big chunk of money (if this deal happens), could easily buy a few sexy goalkeepers with that money, y'know

As for Mario Götze wanting to go to Bayern - orihinally he is a Bavarian - he was born in the same town as Holger Badstuber, so who knows?

Gotze as fake 9 won't work IMO. He is not good enough as a goalscorer. I think Pep will realise that and keep playing with a striker in front of him.

They're not going to disappear. They have Klopp and they'll buy good replacements and have some other highly rated prospects coming through. They're almost done with their debt too. That plus the Champions League money. They'll be fine.

37 million (it's euro, right!) seems low to me. I haven't watched this guy (few CL games perhaps) but the reactions tells he can fetch few millions more. I think Dortmund will buy Erick and few more quality (young) players. Bayern may have become stronger but Dortmund doesn't necessarily will be weaker.

Well, even though I am really disappointed in Bayern due to this move, somehow I have an image before my mind's eye of a grinning Kloppo who says "the news of our demise has been greatly exaggerated" while he draws some fresh, formerly unknown talent out of his hat. ^^

If this does go through, then I would pretty much lose all respect for Gotze. Not because he is leaving, but because he's joining a rival that this teammates/coach/staff have been busting their gut trying to complete with, and because of the timing of the announcement. Its 2 days until BVB's biggest game in the last ten years and he chooses now to agree to move.
