Report: Conte to resign?

There are shock reports that Antonio Conte could be ready to hand in his resignation if the Juventus Coach is banned for 10 months in the betting trial.

He decided to fight the charges of failing to alert authorities to a potential fix while he was at Siena in 2010-11, but risks up to a 15-month ban.

It is rumoured that the Disciplinary Commission is leaning towards a 10-month suspension, which would keep him out until June 9, 2013.

Although the ban would only apply to sitting on the bench or in the locker room on match day and so he could continue to train the squad on a day-to-day basis, this would be a heavy blow.

There are conflicting reports coming out of Beijing, where the Bianconeri are preparing for Saturday’s Italian Super Cup against Napoli.

According to La Repubblica, Conte is ready to follow assistant Cristian Stellini in offering his resignation.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim the tactician is sticking to his guns and has the full support of the club even if he is suspended.

Massimo Carrera took over on the bench in the weekend’s friendly against Malaga and is expected to be Conte’s eyes and voice on the touchline during the ban.

There had also been reports last night that Conte was going to fire the Juventus lawyers as part of his legal team in this case, but the club released a statement denying that.

This is all mind games b4 the supper coppa The club again after this news confirmed that Conte will stay and that they are 100% behind him thats why the assistant was on the bench for the malaga game.

Juventus should sack him to clear their name out of this Scommessopoli thing.

He has a point though, even tho it has nothing to do with Juve, people keep mixing up Scommessopoli with Juve and that's because of Conte.

No, that's because of ignorance
Anyone informed knows that Conte is being trialed because of when he managed Siena

But from a general standpoint, Juventus distancing themselves from anything scandalous isn't a bad idea

I don't know if it's mind games, Devi. The club and Conte may just be getting news that he may be out the entire season. Juve may give him the option to resign or get sacked if that's the case. I don't see Agnelli being ok with having Conte training the team and sitting in the stands during matches all season.

I don't know who would replace him especially since we have players that are ideal for his tactics. I think that we could still pry Capello or Lippi from their clubs, but neither is a long-term solution for the club. Prandelli would probably be the first choice candidate.

I think that the point is that Juve may not want to associate itself with a coach serving a season long ban and then have him return in a year.

You can do whatever you would like if he resigns or leaves. But Juve fans need to start coming to terms with the reality of this situation very soon.

I don't think he will either to be honest but if he's banned for the entire season it only makes sense

If he's allowed to operate behind the scenes it just makes everything less credible and pointless really

I think if Conte will be banned, we better start lining up alternatives for a new coach, I hate this whole idea of the assistant coach taking charge during games....

we need a competent replacement...

If juventus get a replacement coach for a year, I sure hope it would be Edy Reja. He would continue the Juventus spirit that's for sure. Butt damn whatever happpens I hope he still stays as juventus coach, even if its from afar...
