Elia completes WB medical

The Netherlands international is desperate to leave the Serie A champions after a frustrating 2011/12 campaign, and a return to the Bundesliga now appears to be imminent for the tricky wideman.

"[Elia] has undergone his medical, but there won't be time to sign his contract today," Werder director Klaus Allofs stated to Bild.

Elia, 25, joined Juventus from Hamburg in the summer of 2011, but was unable to secure regular first-team action in Turin, making just four appearances under Antonio Conte.

Bremen will reportedly pay a fee in the region of £4.4 million (€5.5m) for the former Twente star, who is expected to sign a contract until June 2016 on Monday.

Was hoping for a few million more but it's good we got some more money to add to the striker fund. If you remember last year we missed out on Aguero and Rossi by a few million Euros.

Well, I read about transfer fees between 5.5 and 7 mio €. I think Elia might feel more at home in the BL - after all, he was quite okay at the HSV, and Juventus wouldn't have paid 9 mio € for him if they hadn't seen something in him. As things stand, it seems that some players simply don't fit into certain clubs, while they work okay or even good in other setups. I think you had the same problem with Diego. I really hope that Elia will get his career back on track at Werder.

Well he barely has played this season which is why they were pushing for a loan initially but we were pushing for a sale cuz we needed funds to address oher areas of our team.

Atleast we recouped a major portion of the money spent on him.So yeah its a good sale..Wish him all the best at Werder too

Elia's proposed transfer from Juventus to Werder Bremen put on hold

The winger was expected to complete his move to the Bundesliga side on Monday, but has not inked a deal as his contract situation with the Old Lady has yet to be resolved.

Eljero Elia's proposed transfer from Juventus to Werder Bremen has been put on hold as the Netherlands international has yet to reach an agreement with the Serie A champion over the termination of his current contract.

The winger passed a medical at the Bundesliga side on Sunday and was expected to sign a four-year deal on Monday. However, the move has now been delayed following the dispute between Elia and the Bianconeri.

"The contract between Juventus and Elia has yet to be terminated. That's why he has not signed with us yet," Bremen director Klaus Allofs commented to Bild. "It's about a few material things. There's nothing we can do about it to solve this. I don't know whether this is insurmountable."

The 25-year-old arrived at Werder Bremen's training camp in Norderney earlier on Monday, but won't be allowed to train until his contract with Juve has been rescinded.

The way the article is worded it makes it sound like Werder expects his contract to be terminated with Juve. Does that mean no transfer fee?

I think they're talking about the contract Elia was on with Juventus(he signed a 4 year deal if i'm correct?)

So unless that isnt terminated ,he wont be able to sign for them i suppose..Does this procedure take place in every transfer though ?I am not totally sure..

From what i've gathered from other forums the transfer fee agreement and wages has all been agreed with Werder Bremen except that Juventus havent yet terminated his existing contract with us.

From what I was able to understand from an article written in Italian, Werder is paying him less than his current contract at Juve and Elia wants a buyout from Juve to make up the difference in the contracts. Seems like crap to me unless we're getting a nice transfer fee from this.

I think he is probably demanding some compensation sort of for the transfer..(since he'd be earning less at Werder)

Dont think it has got anything to do with the transfer fee agreed between both clubs.

I guess I feel like it's his call if he wants to join another team and actually play he might have to accept less money. This is what held up Amauri's transfers in the past. Elia needs to rescue his career and he might need to earn less money to do that.

So the actual transfer fee of this operation is 5.5m Euros plus bonuses(2m)..

The Bonuses include

1.1m euro after 15 matches

2.another 1m euros if Bremen reach EL..

I think both bonuses are pretty much attainable.
