Ballack coming across as a huge hater. Don't know what his problem is. England matched and played really well against a superior team. Hodgson got his tactics good.

Don't know what your problem is. England played really defensively against a superior team. Nobody wants to watch a team park the bus. Obviously they can't do much else, so I don't blame them, but why would he be impressed?

Ballack was trolling hard.

I also predict fisticuffs in that studio by the end of the tournament.

It's not only his opinion, it's his general snobbish attitude in his analysis. It's pretty obvious this current England team is incapable of playing technical attacking football, and against a great team like France, it's obvious they are gonna play with caution- being that it bis their first match in the group.

I think they will play much better against Sweden and Ukraine. I thought sopmeone like Ballack would understand that rather than just going on about "park 3 buses" blah blah .............

England did what they needed to do but what they did wasn't impressive. I'm glad they showed real fight and maybe they could get stronger as the tournament goes along but Ballack didn't speak some alien talk, he actually has a point.

No body want to watch a bus parked game. England had 1 shot on target and that was the goal.Worst game of the Euro so far.

If they are going to play like that they should have gotten Carroll in there.. At the very least he is taller than Welbeck so those longballs actually had a chance of connecting him. Welbeck got nothing done.

I'm disappointed as well, was expecting England to attack

Well, his point was that it is not enjoyable to watch for the fans (especially when there isn't even a win that might justify the means), and there he is 100% right.

This was so far the only game where I totally didn't feel entertained. Okay, Germany-Portugal was a borefest, too, but at least we got a win out of it. ^^

England was right to set up a defensive formation vs. France but there was no gameplan forward beside defending. You guys managed one shot on target only. Some days it'll be enough most of the time it won't.

Wingers just ran down the wings in an erratic manner then crossed for Wellback who isn't known to be the king of the second floor. Even the crosses weren't precise.

In short, I didn't see any kind of gameplan in Englands game rather than hope for the best. Even counter attacks needs a scheme to be successful.

From a neutral point of view, it was the most boring game in Eruos 2012 so far.

In conclusion, I agree with everything Ballack said. Try to look at the matters from his point of view ( neutral) then you'll get what he meant.

Also let's not forget he was reacting to an almost extatic pundit, who was visibly impressed by the England performance for no good reason.

The tactics are ore suited to the knockout stages, but if they scrape through the groups, these tactics are the best way to squeeze every ounce you can out of half decent squad.

If they don't make it out of the groups, it's just sad.

I'm just curious. I know that I nearly threw my shoe at the television when he started praising Roy for his negative tactics against France. I was so happy that Ballack stepped in with support for positive, attractive football.

I wasn't terribly impressed with Ballack in the first few match analyses, but he's really grown on me. A great addition to the ESPN coverage team.

I'm not-so-secretly hoping Ballack goes over the table at Lalas by the end of the tournament. If Germany make the final and Lalas says something utterly inappropriate (which is almost guaranteed), Ballack might do it.

Alexi wouldn't like it if he was angry...
