Re: Official Copa America Thread
Honestly I can't remember the last time we had an elite gk. Not that Martinez is at that level yet. But for all my life we've had just reliable ones. Fillol perhaps?
Anyways no issue with the banter by him, but the dick thurst celebration was too much and deserved a yellow imo.

How the Argentina midfield is performing ? I feel curious because it Is comparable to that Italian on paper
Is It making difference or Is It a Seleccion carried by Messi ?

I actually enjoy copa more than euros tbh. Copa is so unpredictable and chaotic, you never know what's going to happen . Euros will have those games every once in awhile but for the most part it's just standard organized international playEl Gunner wrote:what an incredibly dirty game this was... just saw the highlights pls tell me you guys have watched better football in this tournament
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk1OwD50xi8
and is there no extra time in the Copa?

It's been a Messi carry job. He's been directly involved in 9/11 goals with 4 goals and 5 assists. He's playing at a very high level this tournament against thugs. Thankfully he had his goalie to step up during the shootout. This might be his most impressive international tournament yet.
Argentina's been rotating their midfield. De Paul is the one constant though. The midfielders are good in the sense they can hold the ball and have the energy to carry it forward and link up play. I've been liking the Di Maria super sub role even though if it means that scrub Gonzalez is starting.
I don't think Argentina is a good side, but like I mentioned before Scaloni has been using the same spine since he's arrived in 2018. Familiarity goes a long way in international football. I think Brazil is the favourites for the finals, but I'm hoping for an upset.

Luis Diaz is a baller. I wonder if he'll get a big move coming out of this tournament.

Re: Official Copa America Thread
Well we know how messi plays for Argentina in finals, and as cascia said it's been a Messi carry job so hard to see a path to a trophy through other means. Brazil has also not lost in like 3 years and is playing home. So regardless of the rj m99 is trying to pull, it's still very much Brazil's to lose

Re: Official Copa America Thread
What is the advantage of playing home with zero fans Besides we all know what Brazil did i their sacred homeground in 2014
This is a much better Argentina than two years ago and a much worse Brazil because of how Coutinho (who is not even here), Firmino and Jesus's forms fell off a cliff.

Richarlison has the PL experience so i think Brazil are favourites but Argentina have Emi Martinez.

Anyway I suppose Elitedeam and M99 preferred Colombia but as neutral Brazil-Argentina is the best thing possible
I had no preference really. If Colombia won, it would have been fun to laugh at Argentina. But Argentina winning sets up a great game on Saturday.

Also, there is the possibility of extra time in the final. It was only quarters and semis that went straight to penalties.

LMFAO! Jesus that guy had no filter describing Messi's lack of tenacity with the Argentina shirt. At least now it's beginning to look up tho. Messi is actually showing up in this edition of the CA. Let's see if he can finally deliver for the Argentina shirt.
That or it's back to those outrageous comments XD

Re: Official Copa America Thread
Also I agree on Diaz basically being WC or semi WC at this point. The man is a real devil on the wing. Ive seen him all season long at Porto and he does some insane dribbles and runs on that left wing and even has a decent enough shot to be a threat to goal. Crosses fine and passing ain't too bad compared to other wingers. Defo might make a big move now

The Euro big games are at 2am here Gotta sacrifice the nice sleep
Perucho21 wrote:I still stand by my statement when I tell people that 2006-2007 Argentina was the last time they were truly dominant and incredible to watch. Since then they have been hot and cold but nothing like that team they had in those years.
It's the last time they had great midfield:
Veron-Mascherano-Cambiasso
Riquelme
And they also have good defenders like Zanetti and Ayala. Since then, they mainly produce good attackers.
They were so much better on paper than Brazil at that time and they were thrashed 3-0
The tie this sunday looks good, looking forward to that.
The dick thrust was epicBarrileteCosmico wrote:Honestly I can't remember the last time we had an elite gk. Not that Martinez is at that level yet. But for all my life we've had just reliable ones. Fillol perhaps?

But yeah, Roa, Abbondanzieri, Romero; all were not elite gk. Fillol was great in game, so maybe

Big day for Messi FC. Our boy's last chance to win anything with Argentina. Even some Brazilians are rooting for Argentina to win because of that and Neymar had to post an instagram story to shit on them LOOOL.

Re: Official Copa America Thread
I think it's more about the cup being very unpopular in Brazil. Some have been calling it the 'cup of death' since they decided to host it in the middle of a pandemic that's still very dangerous.
