why would vertonghen leave ajax a CL team, to go to newcastle when CL teams are actually tracking him?
wijnaldum, just join psv dude...
why would debuchy leave lille who will be in CL?
dzemaili just joined napoli
keita? maybe but highly unlikely
Heard of Yohan Cabaye? he joined us after Lille won the french league with him as the main playmaker.....
I agree Vertonghen is out of our reach unless we finish 4th but i dont want him anyway i prefer Mbiwa or Douglas.
EP we are buying a CB to compete with Taylor, Colo is untouchable.

But you still have to have the 2 that start when they are fit. You can't rotate them every game.
Then you have one that becomes 1st rotation. You can easily manage that kind of situation, specially if there is CL football.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
LOL 3 CB's wont be a problem........
We are playing Williamson and Perch at the back at the weekend because of injuries.......
Taylor has dealt with competing for a spot before it wont be a problem.
Plus its likely we will have europe next season add in the cup competitions and obvious injuries and suspensions they will be plenty of minutes to go around.
In fact we need another CB, not want we need our depth in defence is terrible currently.
And yh i dont expect Debuchy but its not impossible.

throughout the whole of last season cabaye wanted to leave (no matter what), and Newcastle was really the only choice he had. debuchy doesn't want to leave. but if newcastle make cl than probably

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
A 3rd CB can still be bought, but not as high profile as Vertonghen since he would be a starter at many big clubs. Imo it would be better to splash the cash on a RB like Debuchy to bench Simpson lol.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
We wont get Vertonghen anyways and i hope we dont in some ways hes too similar to Coloccini......
I want Mbiwa or Douglas as i mentioned because they are quick and aggressive while maintaining decent technical skill.
And they are not that high profile either and wont cost anywhere near as much.

again, debuchy is going to Valencia. He even confirmed interest publicly earlier in the month... he's very good friends with Rami.

Albiol is another one that will gather little attention next summer. I can see Malaga or Valencia trying to add depth to their backline with him. fits in what Newcastle is looking for too.

Albilol is too slow with Coloccini we need a quick aggressive CB who has enough technical ability so he doesnt fall over like Williamson does

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
Mertesacker is slow as shit, yet did great in the PL during his first season.
Slow CBs doing badly in the PL is a myth.
Now slow crap CBs doing badly is something universal. Dunno about Albilol. Maybe some consistent game time could make him decent again.

Albiol would challenge Savic for the worst defender of the league title.

Mertesacker isn't that slow.
And he's also tall at least.
Albiol would just get plain outrun and outmuscled too much, he should go to Italy where he'd be fantastic.

Albiol is too slow for us anyways, we need a quick, aggressive CB as i said.
Coloccini is a fantastic defender and for the last few months he has kept our defence together practically by himself with a quality CB and LB alongside him he would look even better.
