How do UEFA co-efficient rankings work?

I have hardly a clue. This is in relation to Italy getting back the fourth UCL spot as well

well, every year each country gets a number of points depending on how it's teams perform in the CL and the EL, and the total points from the last 5 years are added and the top 3 leagues get 4 CL places

Each club of each country collects points and they are divided through the number of teams playing, so that countries with more clubs in a competition don't get an unfair advantage (hence it is a "quotient"). The point quotients of the last 5 years get added and the placement gets effective in the season after that (hence BL only has the 4 CL spots after the current season).

Going to murder everyone in Roma's defence. That result is going to render anything else Italian clubs do absolutely useless when it is averaged out.
