Ferguson: Rangers-Celtic bigger than Barca-Madrid

I think he probably means to say its more intense than the Barca-Madrid rivalry
but it doesnt serve enough hype i suppose mainly due to the fact that the quality of the league is inferior so people outside of the UK would disagree with him probably.

The troll comment is not that the Cletic-Rangers derby rivals El Clasico, but that the Man United-Liverpool derby rivals the Celtic-Rangers one. The former a semi-political war, the latter just blew into prominence with the advent of the Premier league and SAF deceleration that he will overtake Liverpool.

The Madrid-Barca derby had more significant history even though it rose in prominence in the late 80's as well.

Regardless, both pale in comparison to what they mean to the local fans to the Celtic-Rangers derby. Many fans would rather win the derby than the title in Scotland.

It was intense, but the lack of stakes before the Premier league makes it less in importance than the Cletic-Rangers and the Barca-Madrid games. I am not saying it is like the Chelsea-Arsenal derby, but it is a more intense version of the Arsenal-Spurs derby. I would compare it to the Milan-Inter derby.

Years ago when the Old Firm was actually a intense religious derby I would've agreed with him. But now alot of the fans don't why they hate each other.

actually zamalek vs ahli is bigger the egyptian ultras here are the best in the world and i have travelled and watch inter vs juve beforw in italy but nothing beats the feeling when ur in the stadium watching ahly vs zamalek
