Has any game ever topped this?

Recently played it on my cousins 3DS the other day and it brought back so many memories.

I prefer this version

Majora's Mask > OoT IMHO.

my favorite Zelda title, simply based on sentimental value is the SNES hit, Zelda: A Link to the Past.

But in all seriousness, OoT is pretty much god as far as action/daventure/rpgs go

Agreed with all the choices here.

But I have to mention:

I honestly can't see many games (if any) beating the Grand Theft Auto series, whenever a new version from that series comes out, they almost always are contenders for game of the year

GTA IV came out in 2008 and to this day, it still looks incredible, it plays fantastic with continuously in depth and detailed story lines

The GTA franchise is a boring repetitive franchise with not even that grand of graphics. It offers no innovation, while the storyline is cheap and uninteresting.

It hold no candle whatsoever to games like Zelda, Elder Scroll, Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Mario.

Unreal Tournament. My school days revolved around that game.

Please, oh please tell me that you are being sarcastic. The GTA franchise is possibly the greatest in gaming history and GTA 3 completely revolutionized the gaming industry. Look at how people are celebrating it's 10 year anniversary, even rival game developers are talking about how GTA 3 completely changed gaming and made the impossible possible. So much for no innovation. And boring story? VIce City was a classic tale of a man against all the odds rising up to the very top of the criminal empire and San Andreas had one of the most deepest stories told in a game and GTA 4 was just a masterpiece. A tale of revenge and the American Dream. I am dumbfounded that you come to the conclusion that the franchise is boring and repetitive.

I'd have to agree with Spenser on this one, GTA got old quick. You did a mediocre job when trying to sell us that "classic tale", I just think this game gets repetitive and it has nothing on the classics I grew up with. GTA was much more appealing to me when I was in middle school, essentially all the games are about crime and "making it to the top". I don't think you should be dumbfounded that we don't enjoy this game as much as you do, I just wouldn't rate it as highly as you have.

P.S. They still can't sort out a proper online multiplayer mode.

P.S. P.S. I'd love to hear some of your favorite movies. Did you find "Gigli" to be an amazing screenplay? :lol!:

Repetetive in what way? Vice City gave us a larger, more detailed city, new weapons motorbikes, helicopters an engaging story and the ability to own properties and have your own empire. San Andreas gave us a damn state with 3 cities, a countryside, desert, swimming, casinos, airplanes, jetpacks, a plethora of side quests, you could customize the appearance of your character with different clothes, hairstyles, tatoos, you could even rob people's houses seriously I can go on and on. And GTA 4 gave us a totally living, breathing city. And then there is the outstanding humour. The memorable characters. The epic missions. The stuff the franchise is famous for.

PS: Multiplayer? What has multiplayer got to do with this?

PPS: Since you asked: Fight Club, The Godfather, Scarface, The Goodfellas, Tax Driver, Godfather II, Shawshank Redemption, Inception, The Departed, Silence Of The Lambs, Se7en, Shutter Island, The Departed, The Bicycle Thief, Menace II Society just some at the top of my head.

Was there ever a sandbox game before GTA ? Not saying GTA was a goddamn revolution in gaming..but it was still innovative nonetheless.

With that said though..the series has definitely been in decline, especially story wise as the makers are clearly running out of inspiration. But that shouldn't take credit away from where it's due.

And cmon..who isn't a fan of Lazlow Jones ?! GTA will always have the best radio stations

Old habits die hard, so I can definitely see myself picking up a copy of GTA5 when it releases.

Rockstar is my shepherd...I shall not want. ( Red Dead, Bully, Max Payne, Manhunt, Midtown Madness..these guys know how to entertain )
