It's an RPG(sort of) collectible card game. I used to play it quite a bit back in the day, it's pretty fun. I probably still have my old cards in storage somewhere. Looking on e-bay and certain cards sell for quite a bit.
Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
That sounds interesting. Can I play it online? If yes, can you recommend a good site/program?

Yeah, you can play it online. No idea on programs, I haven't tried playing it online, maybe king_alex can recommend one.
Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
My brother was a huge fan of this. He actually just started to play again (he has a kid, you know how that goes), he was searching for his old cards the other day. I never really got into it, although I can tell you exactly how the back of the cards look. I guess our family could only afford to buy packs for one kid, if we both got packs, it could have hindered our game :lol!:
It seemed like an interesting game, I can't tell you why I never got into it?

Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
I played it for four years and got quite good at it.
Won a trip to Pro Tour Valencia, flight and accommodation paid for.
Won about $5,000us dollars in prize money over the four years..
Stopped playing due to the cost and University.

Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
I'll be damned, an MtG thread here?
If TS is talking about Magic Workstation (MWS, though it initially doesn't come with card pictures and they're a pain to download), I have that too. I stopped playing about two years ago, but am thinking of going back soon so I'm using MWS to test stuff first.
If anyone has that and wants a game (if it's not Standard I'll see what I can brew), just tell me

Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
hey sorry for not responding sooner, ive been busy playing
Glad to see that some ppl are interested, and that some posters have actually played.
For those of you that do not know what it is, it is a multiplayer trading card game that involves the skill of poker, the imagination of most RPGs, and the luck factor of drawing cards and rolling die... it can get pretty intense...
there are literally thousands of cards and so many different ways to paly and win that there is something for everyone... ranging from casual to serious.
And yes, u can make money playing magic! insane right?!!?!
also, Arch_Woooohh named Magic Workstation (which doesnt have the pictures). MWS is kind of outdated now. It only features 1v1 play and thus doesnt support the multiplayer formats. A better, free program that comes witht he pictures and can support 8 ppl per-game is called Cockatrice. It can be downloaded @ cockatrice.de
if anyone ever gets on there, my user name is alldon.
I will check back in on this thread more often, sorry if i took long in replying

Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
some cards... just to give ppl an idea (this are some of my favorites)

The art, and the flavor text (the italicized text on some of the cards) really make the game come alive

Lol it's ok man, although you did take a long time in replying.

The images you posted, they're extremely well drawn. Thanks for the cockatrice link, btw, and I'll start playing as soon as my exams end. Thanks again, king_alex10 and all those posters who replied!

Re: Official Magic: The Gathering thread
the game is prett complicated, and the best way to learn how to play is to play against someone who shows u what to do during each step... the rules are too complicated to talk about without any reference point
