Re: Official New Stadium Thread
It's bold. I am not sure I like it presently, but it'll probably grow on me.
Better than most modern day stadiums which all look like grey bowls.

Yeah, it definitely looks different. So it will be something that stands out from how other stadiums looks, it's just a matter of getting used to it over a period of time.
For some reason it reminds me of Soccer City (2010 WC final stadium), with how it covers part of the top the way round, but obviously just with more sided-shapes to it rather than the singular bowl look.

But then again a lot of stadiums have that these days so I don't know

Re: Official New Stadium Thread
Indeed, having a partial roof is common place in modern stadiums.
I think it's to keep the fans dry without fully enclosing the stadium.

Re: Official New Stadium Thread
We have today submitted the planning application for the rebuild of Stamford Bridge:
https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/12/a-message-to-our-supporters-and-neighbours.html
Don't expect an announcement on how successful the application will be for a while, but I can't see it being turned down, we've invested a lot of money and time into this, so let's hope it is successful

A planning application for a new stadium at Stamford Bridge with an expanded seating capacity has been submitted. This follows a successful consultation process during which we received very helpful feedback.
This application will now be examined by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Full details can be found on their website at www.lbhf.gov.uk/stamfordbridgegrounds.
The main details of the application are:
- Stadium seating capacity to expand from 41,600 to 60,000 spectators
- An outstanding view of the stadium from every seat
- An arena designed to create an exciting atmosphere
- Direct access to and from Fulham Broadway Station, making travel more efficient
- Stadium facilities improved for every area
The planning process will last beyond the end of the season; if the application is granted planning permission there will still be a lot of work to do before redevelopment can start, including obtaining various other consents. We will inform you of progress through this process.
Thank you for your continued support.

Re: Official New Stadium Thread
The Telegraph are reporting that Spurs are willing to match our Wembley bid in order to groundshare, obviously the FA are in favour of this as they get more money.

Re: Official New Stadium Thread
So the local council has unanimously approved our plan for the stadium redevelopment:

So, barring any more issues, work should begin at the end of the season

What on earth is the Chelsea pitch ownerships thing? I could be owning a piece of the Stamford Bridge?

Re: Official New Stadium Thread
CPO was established under Ken Bates' tenure and is the means by which the land the stadium sits on is owned by the fans who hold shares of it. Which is why a few years ago when Abramovich wanted to build a new stadium elsewhere and up & move us there, he had to seek permission/approval from CPO, which ultimately he didn't get. And yes, you can buy shares in it.
