VDB is hopeless in team selection. He is hugely biased to Barcelona and Real Madrid players, mostly the former. FACT.

It's actually really not that hard to understand. National coaches of certain countries usually pick players that play in their countries' respective leagues. I remember Macca was overlooked for Frank Sinclair without much fuss and Macca, despite a bench warmer, was in every way possible the better player.
N.B The Macca statement is soaked in stinky Madridista bias so please be aware it is very skewered to suit Macca's case...

Arbeloa is a great full back defensively and always justifies his selection, but I would pick Enrique over Arbeloa still.

I still think Jordi Alba will be selected for Euro 2012 if he continues his form so I don't see the big deal plus there are still more opportunities before the tournament.

Nah just like Montoya selection its a token selection he wont get consistent call ups......
Besides Enrique has been a trillion times better than Jordi Alba.....

To be honest, if Abidal was Spanish, he would have started over all of them just to show how much Don Vicente "enjoys" picking Barcelona players. It works for him so, why mess with it.

Well thats arguable yes, but seeing as he now plays for Liverpool that is no longer an excuse and there has been 2 or 3 opportunities to call him up since he signed for them......
There are simply no reasons not to call him up other than VDB's obvious bias for La Liga players.
