Re: Tom Cleverley
I watched your youtube vids:
+ vision and passing range is all over the field
+ superb passing on the ground and in the air
+ his body is build like a midfielder in regista role
+ ball control and shieling are already at a very high level
+ he thinks ahead before he gets the ball
+ very mobile with or without the ball
+ he doesn't look like a wuss
+ Manu could win EPL with him
- his first touch is a bit heavy until he gets the ball under control (I'm comparing to la liga)
- his aerial passes are superb but lack the power you need to curl them properly to make them supreme, maybe I'm too spoiled with Scholes and Pirlo but they can hit parabola passes through the air which hit at a very vertical angle on the ground
- his finishing and final ball lack finesse, he is raw in that department
Verdict: raw but already at a very high level. His ceiling is very high if he develops properly. Pair him with someone like M'Vila and you're set for years to come

Re: Tom Cleverley
Very good performance, glad he is back. Do you think he could fit into the same team as Scholes or is it purely one or the other?
I am thinking its one or the other, though if you guys ever went back to a 3 man midfield in a certain situation I could possibly see it.

Good question. I don't really think so tbh. Cleverley is like a faster version of a younger Scholes. Scholes sort of sits back now and dictates the game from deep while Cleverley shifts the ball forward rapidly. I can't see them working tbh. Cleverley has massive amounts of potential. He epitomises our style at the start of the seaon and I feel had he been fit, we would still be in the Cl. We have won every game were he has started for us. I can't think of a similar player to him atm tbh. He adds that extra pace that differentiates us from the functional farce of last seaoson. The we are a much better team than last seaon. Shame we have no CL football to show it.

He reminds me of Arsenal's Fabregas, not the false 9 who is playing for Barca atm.

Really? Cleverley drops far deeper and does a CM role but he speeds up the pace and makes forward runs too liink up the attacks from CM. Fabregas only did the Linking of attacks from CM to attack. He wasn't a CM.

Re: Tom Cleverley
Depends what you mean by a CM, a lot of his team actions at Arsenal started directly from the central circle with him pinging the kind of passes Cleverley is doing in your sig.
If by a CM you want also one who can harass the other midfielders, then yeah Fabregas was not really a hound in that aspect.

I know yeah, the horrible feelings of Gerrard, Terry and Lampard all retiring are long gone. Move on to the next gen no bother!
Studies are horrible, got 104 days to go the start of the big exams then I free How you getting on?

I've been back at school this year, been concentrating on study alot of the time so i only get to have a quick look around for a few mins a week unfortunately sorry.
Re: Tom Cleverley
very good player atm, but we will see what he can do when teams actually start realising his talent.this is when teams will start targeting him and start denying him space. this is why wilshere is so good as he was able to bypass this and continue performing brilliantly for 50 games or so, the guy doesn't get fazed by pressure as demonstrated against barca. we will see how cleverly develops, i want him to progress well and see what he can do to help england.
england really do have a much more technical future ahead of them.

Re: Tom Cleverley
one thing is he is not good with his back to goal. whenever he is pressure he always passes back, in addition he doesn't do enough defence splitting passes, but that might come as he grows.

Mate, that's what you're meant to do anyway if you're under pressure. Have you not see Carrick and Busquets do the same thing? Especially the latter who has so much composure, he either passes the ball or does a swift turn to full the players ganging up on him.
