I'll repeat something I said in a thread in the Liverpool section.

Let’s be honest. Even playing against Champions League Finalists, we didn’t lose that game. Carroll just ran out of time.

Did more against Chelsea by himself in 20 minutes than Barcelona in two games.

Barca should sign him imo.

Meh. Still lost all respect after that Newcastle stunt. He's been doing well in his last couple of games though.

Found it on another forum:

Newcastle managing director on how he got £35 million for Andy Carroll:

“It is about control.” “We had the control. We knew the Torres deal was there.” “We drew that F-----g deal, perhaps the ultimate.”

“So £30M? F--- off! Don’t waste my time and I slammed the phone down.” “£35M? Everybody including manager Alan Pardew all agreed to that.”

“But the £35M they wanted to pay over four years. It was rubbish. Mike Ashley said, and he is a brave boy Mike I promise you — “get all the £35M up front.”"

“We got it all up front and then they never paid us on time and we charged them 12 grand F-----g interest.”

Newcastle know how to do business Very Happy

I can't help but feel bad for Carroll.. He would probably be one of the most promising and liked young english players if Liverpool didn't have an obsession with buying every half decent player just because they are english. I think if he was given a more fair chance without insane amounts of pressure he could be great.

He's very hard to deal with lol, if he doesn't get the deal he wants he f*cks off lol.

Case in point is Cisse, we were first quoted close to 20m and then came back 6 months later and got him for 8m lol.

Bit of a c*nt, but he's a very good negotiator.

Is he still at the job? We could use a fekker like him instead of Emenalo.

Emenalo: "So how much do you want for this player"

Club X: "500M"

Emenalo: "Done. Thank you for the good business"

Yeah he's Ashley's right hand man.

Him, Ashley and and the Club Secretary Charnley are the one's who deal with all the finances.

They are all very good businessmen and suffer no fools and very hard nosed when it comes to transfers, if we dont the deal we want then we walk away and look at other targets.

About Emanalo, i know how that feels we use to have people like that in the Shepherd era.

The mere fact when we went down we had the 5th highest wage bill in the league and now it's like 15th in the league says it all really.

Seriously?!

You think we spent the money simply because we had it?

The club had just sold one of its posterboys. Torres was one of the faces of modern Liverpool and beloved by the Kop. (Looking back, selling him was the best decision. However, the effect on the fan base is undeniable.) Selling him could've completely undermined the overall atmosphere surrounding the club and the supporters. New owners and a new manager needed the club to recover from a disastrous first half of a campaign, and losing the club's star striker (in-form or not) could've very easily undermined any effort to do that.

Was Carroll a panic buy? Of course he was. Will he ever be worth the 35 mil we paid for him? Not through his actions on the field. However, did LFC need to make a move of this sort? Absolutely. Lfc needed to make a statement to the League and to its supporters. That statement was that they were not selling their future for 50 mil, the owners weren't there to leech money from the club, and they weren't ready to write off this season or any in the future. Did Carroll ever make sense from a tactical standpoint for LFC? Not really.

He was a symbolic purchase. He was the right combination of young, prolific and available. Anyone who thinks LFC carefully weighed out his purchase over the course of the window and consciously planned to alter the club's footballing approach to suit him is an absolute idiot. LFC needed to make a statement. Carroll was their best bet to do so. I'm so sick of hearing how LFC's spending was a joke. The constant comparisons of every high profile signing to Carroll's price tag is so asinine, I can't even begin to describe it. Transfers, like anything in life, don't occur in a vacuum. LFC was in need (high demand), and Newcastle had the market cornered (low supply). Of course the price would be high.

(That said, Damien Comolli is an idiot for opening the bidding at 30 mil. As soon as I heard that, I had no problems with him departing the club.)

They are not even hoofing ffs

Well there's the long ball now and again to mix it up but mainly they are passing through midfield and then getting it outwide and putting quality delivery in.

This isn't hoofing

GL on hoofing: A pass that is longer than 5 yards.

@GLS We're just messing around. Everyone knows that Sam's trademark is a physical game with a good amount of crosses. Of course saying that they're hoofing it all the time is an exaggeration.

They do have the players to mix it up a little and not become the next Stoke.

The likes of Noble and Nolan are capable of playing some neat passe on the ground. Thumbs up

I know some of you are lol but some are serious i can tell lol...

West Ham are playing like we did under Hughton i.e. mixture of neat passing and quality wide delivery and a long ball now and again.

Carroll should do well there.
