How would you divide Europes top clubs into brackets?
For example, I would divide them something like this:
Bracket 1 (a class above the rest):
Barcelona
Manchester United
Real Madrid
Bracket 2 (just a step below):
Bayern Munich
Manchester City
Chelsea
Milan
Bracket 3 (further down...):
Arsenal
Valencia
Porto
Inter
Bracket 4:
Liverpool
Dortmund
Juventus
Atl. Madrid
Lille
Lyon
PSG
Villarreal
Sevilla
Tottenham
Benfica
I'm sure I forgot to place some teams and I know my rating is far from complete, but I think that the "bracket view" is rather interesting since I'm sure most people do this kind of dividing in their head in terms of how they rate teams. So post yours.

I'm not sure you can put Arsenal above Dortmund. I think they are more on equal terms if you look at the CL match they played (Dortmund would easily have won it if they would have put some of their numerous chances into the net, but then it was their home ground, so I'd rate them equals).

Level 1- Barca, Real Madrid, Manchester United
Level 2- Man City, Bayern Munich, Milan, Chelsea
Level 3- Porto, Inter, Arsenal, Valencia...
Yeah, so I agree with the OP and it seems like everyone has the same idea really.

Well, I think Bayern might get into tier 2 as they look pretty good atm, but to finalize that sorting we might wait for the next rounds when they maybe run into one of ManUtd or Real.

God, some people here have crappy views on football. those who think INTER even in these bad form, belongs in same category as likes of bayer leverkusen, dortmund or arsenal, valencia is a faking noob or just is plain stupid or serie a hater...
This is what i think would be a REALISTIC ranking:
Tier 1: Barcelona, Real Madrid
Tier 2: Man U, Milan, Inter, Bayern
Tier 3: Chelsea, Man City,
Tier 4: , Napoli, Juventus, Porto
Tier 5: Dortmund, Tottenham, Liverpool, Roma, Valencia, Arsenal Benfica etc.

thought you judge greatness on what teams have accomplished not how they look on paper

Re: How would you divide Europes top clubs into brackets?
Tbh, if looking at individual players, Man U seem to be a step below Barca and Real. However, the team is so organized and well drilled that as a unit, I would place them in the upper tier with Barca and Madrid. Although inter are in bad form, they definitely deserve to be mentioned ahead of teams like dortmund, valencia, arsenal.
Anyways mine would go something like this:
Tier 1: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man U
Tier 2: Bayern, Milan, Man City (City have no European pedigree and I have my doubts about them but I suppose that simply based on the players that they have, they belong in tier 2)
Tier 3: Inter, Chelsea (you could argue that they belong in tier 2 but they're not that great tbh)
Tier 4: Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, Napoli
Tier 5: Porto, Valencia, Roma, Dortmund, etc...
I'm sure you could argue with some of these choices, but this is more or less how they would be ranked. I'll admit that there is some wiggle room though.

Love that Eastern Euro football.

I agree.
They demolish an unsettled Spuds team with a shit defence, beat Wigan and Swansea at home, and are suddenly one of the top dogs in Europe.
