It was a dive and a stupid one, but he didnt ask for a penalty. So the red card was stupid. But the earlier challenge that got him the first yellow was pretty bad, so I dont know. Certainly not worth anything more than the standard 1 match ban.

Ref made the right call and marcelo was deservedly sent off.

I am just asking for uniform punishment for all divers, even those who escape punishment in the field.
They should discourage such acts from football.

I dont know why he would dive and then not ask for a penalty, maybe he lost out on the ball or knew he couldnt make it and fell, but realised that it was wrong or an unconvicing dive and didnt press it. I recognise the punishment was correct as a yellow card, but seeing as it led to a red I dont know. We wont miss him anyway. He shoudlnt get any more than the standard 1 match ban.

Considering he only made two mistakes, (that incident and another tackle) his sending off seems harsh.
Still assisted the winning goal so no worries I guess. Hope he tries to be more honest from now on, but really that wasn't the worst dive I've ever seen.

minor diving and playacting are two different things.
