I like Benzema more then Rooney, but I think Rooney is the better player. Rooney is a beast and bully, not many players are built like him.

Also, as strong as the French league is, its not as impressive scoring goals there as it is La Liga or EPL.

This will be intresting once Benz hits his peak but he isnt there yet, though fast approaching.

Rooney > Benzema, although I'm confident that by the end of this season my opinion will have changed, providing that Benzema stays fit and in form this season.

also i see you strong alligned to rooney's case than benzema, benzema is more than just goals as well. i think they are pretty even, but weve still yet to see the best of benzema. (mouth watering)

i actually think they are both similar players, and if one is better than the other its not by much.

im sure karim can score and assist more if not at least as much as rooney can, and as we madridistas like to say.. karim is a cl specialist as well. Karim doesnt only offer goals but great link up play and a great amount of assists, at his best/ peak im sure we are going to see a phenom in his own right.

his summer ventures from july to late august were just a preview.

of course one can compare the difficulty of said leagues, but i dont think that takes anything away from a 2 year younger guy whos very talented.

it comes down to other effects such as ball striking, heading, consistency, etc, and weve all see the downs and lows of the players.. i think rooney is overated by some to just say that hes hands down better.

fifa 12 for example rooney 90 benz 84 ffs!

I know Benz is more then goals, I didnt say anything on the contary. I just said goals are not the be all and end all of this debate because Rooney is much more then goals. Benz is too, but Rooney has better vision and passing ability, he isnt a number 9 whereas Benz is closer to one.

Right now, I dont think they are even. When Rooney played in the lone striker position, he scored 40 goals in 50 games (all comps) «. Benz other then 1 season at Lyon played the center striker position and hasnt got near that mark.

As I said, goals arent everything but whe Rooney has played in the second striker position he has been even stronger because you get to see his all around game.

rooney is class, but as you said benz has yet to reach his peak and when he does we will be able to judge more thoroughly.

based on stats they are sort of even even though benz had a mediocre season in 09/10, and im sure there are somethings that one can do and the other cant.

I hate the guy but Rooney edges it for me, although as you said the gap isn't huge. I could definitely see Benz getting to his level as he is not far off, I think Rooney's passing/vision as some have mentioned is a notch above, the way he drops deep and plays passes to formulate the attacks.

This comparison was a joke 2 years ago and its a bigger joke now.
BTW Rooney in has less impressive goal tally in CL than his talent suggests due to being played out wide for 3 / 4 seasons straight.
Anyway Rooney is so much more than a goal scorer.. Hes Benzema and Ozil combined

Rooney easily right now. Benzema is not the focal point at Madrid and until that happens for him at Madrid or elsewhere, it's tough to even compare.

As much as I hate Rooney, I have to say him....

The fact Madrid fans are saying Rooney pretty much tell you the gap between the two atm....

Benz has potential though.

comparing apples and oranges here though... you can't look at one guy who is the absolute focus of an elite team and then look at another guy who is not. Number of touches/opportunities for one compared to the other are drastically different.
