Haven't seen enough of him to know what level of disappointment I should feel.

Best english defensive talent since Ferdinand imho.
Has all the tool's to be a world class defender and iam not usually one to hype players up.

Re: Phil Jones
Brilliant defender in the making. reminds me of a young John Terry. Our defence is set for many years with him and Smalling plus the twins.
He is most certainly gonna replace Wes Brown.

Evans can play as as a FB too, so he offers United alternatives in the back if we ever needed it. Wes Brown is most likely to leave. I won't be surprised if Evans left too though tbh.

Re: Phil Jones
The only alternative choices Evans offers United is the many different ways teams can score against them when he's on the pitch
Having said that, we really missed an opportunity with Smalling

Re: Phil Jones
apparently, until this last w-end, Jones was supposed to be ours,
but only yesterday MU snapped him
Pault86 Paul Thompson
So frustrating. Just had it told to me that Jones deal was tied up over the weekend and was all great Man United bid last night and got him

He also played really good against Chelsea last season. Definitely, one to look forward too.

Re: Phil Jones
Interesting. Did not see this coming at all. Would have preferred Jones to move to Arsenal...
Re: Phil Jones
I can't see Evans staying around now.
Makes sense for United to be looking for lots of defensive cover with how reliable Rio's body is these days.

Re: Phil Jones
Jones's not at a bad DM , but an even better CB . Only con is his height , but then , he aint bad in the air either . I hope he proves to be a solid signing for United , a la Owen Hargreaves

SAF going to use him in the fake "6" role like Mou liked Pepe if and when Utd meet Barca again?

If that's the case, Fletcher could be a bench player?

Fletcher does'nt have the technical ability of Jones and iam not sure Jones would be used in that role full time but in special circumstances i would'nt be suprised if he was deployed as DM/3rd CB.
Something that which was a glaring omission from Man Utd in the final was someone who could pressurize, protect the back four and give a pass to more creative midfielders and wingers.
Add Modric to the mix, with Rooney dropping deep and great wingplay from Nani and Valencia and then suddenly Utd become a different animal entirely and one that could'nt really be accused of lacking ability in midfield like some people might atm.
